So to show what it really takes to be a fencer (and the amount of work we have to do for it) I present a short video. Maybe this will get some of you more interested in our sport, which is always a good thing. We sort of get lost in the shuffle sport wise.

I remember that my thighs were crapped out at the end of each class. It is a tough workout. I'm much better at throwing up a 6 strand barbed wire fence. My hat's off to you for taking it to the competitive level. Good luck!

302 [WOLF3] SteffisCute Members 660 posts Report post #4 Posted July 3, 2017 I have been fencing since I was 6. At that age the training is VERY basic and more of a "fun" hobby than anything serious. As a child gets older if he/she sticks with it the training gets more "serious" and more diverse in style. There is a whole aspect of fencing that is basically "theory" in addition to the physical aspect of it. It is hard to explain. I did my first Y10 tournament at 8 and while I got schooled big time, I loved it and have been hooked ever since. In case anyone is interested for themselves or their kids: http://www.usfencing.org/
