Oh, I'm smoking as much as I can stay alive.  DD is getting focused in Rank, like they should be.

I find Funuki's extra 2km torp range works better for me. I suck at guns. The longer torp range allows me to stay a little closer to my fleet where I get fire support and also easier for me to lay down smoke for them. It also makes dumping torps into the smoke at the far corner of the cap possible.

Funny how the guy who said F*** DD's in that battle has his stats hidden.

The most recent snapshot of his stats that IS available, however, shows why he did so poorly in that match...

I'm glad you mentioned this. I had the same thought, but I haven't seen any info on this until now.

I have 19pts for both the Anshan and Fub, so I was planning on switching back and forth to find the better of the two.

No data yet on Anshan though. I plan on starting ranked tonight.

The Fubuki and the Anshan have completely different playstyles. You just need to figure out which one works best for you. Personally, I prefer the Fubuki...

I agree, but I'm good at both styles.

My issue is I don't really like to stay in the nest, I like to venture out to spot, contest, and generally keep the enemy off balance. The Anshan faster reload over an IJN (if faced against) imo would be better and it has usable torps. Fub with the longer ranged torps makes sense to me also, but again I'd have to stay close for support.

I'm not so worried about det ranges between the two. I would be leary if it was a Hat, but I can always push in a little more to at least get it on the mini map for confirmation and act accordingly.

I'm guessing the Anshan wasn't Flamu's top choice because of the det ranges, but he sure gets excited when he talks about it in a ranked setting.

Fubuki can either outspot the enemy DD and (hopefully) get support from the team to delete them, or drop smoke and run.

I haven't managed to do that much damage in ranked so far, but capping, smoking teammates and keeping the enemy constantly lit up has given me some solid wins...

The main problem with the Fubuki is the low speed. She is a tugboat without speed flags...

Fubuki can outspot other destroyers, except for Hatsuharu. But its not really much of a window on most, so you'll likely be spotted as well. It's the one qualm I have with the special-type destroyers, they're just too easy to spot.

Some comparison numbers:(numbers farthest to the right are the maximum concealment value)

Fubuki:         Base: 7.02km        Camo only: 6.81km        Camo + CE: 6.13km
Hatsuharu:     Base: 6.66km        Camo only: 6.46km        Camo + CE: 5.81km
Farragut:         Base: 7.56km        Camo only: 7.33km        Camo + CE: 6.60km
Gaede:         Base: 7.56km        Camo only: 7.33km        Camo + CE: 6.60km
Gnevy:         Base: 7.02km        Camo only: 6.81km        Camo + CE: 6.13km
Shinonome: Same as Fubuki
Anshan:         Base: 7.20km        Camo only: 6.98km        Camo + CE: 6.29km

As you can see, Anshan only has a slight disadvantage in concealment over Fubuki, and surprisingly, Gnevy can achieve the same concealment as Fubuki. Only Hatsuharu can outspot a Fubuki and Gnevy at T6.

Sorry I won't play Anshan I just suck so bad in that thing but here was my first two games - one in Fubuki and one in Hatsuharu. They aren't great but it worked. Hats you miss the 3rd launcher and Fubuki it's hard to get into position. But the strengths versus weakness they are the same ship! (in terms of success) I don't have Shinonome yet and haven't played Farragut yet either.

I'm doing better in Anshan than Shinonome...but with either ship I'm just having a hard time getting close enough to launch torps without being spotted....and when I do get fish in the water I miss a lot LOL! At this point I'm just racing around smoking and spotting for the team.

Shinonome has a very heavy broadside and good gun DPM compared to Fubuki.

Although it isn't a clear winner amongst the DD selection, it is miles better than Fubuki.

Please stop bringing Fubukis...

It is literally, the worst DD to bring to ranked.

I don't know if it is the worst DD, I would award Gnevny with that and not everyone has Shinonome (You are correct though if I had one I'd be playing it). I do find Fubuki so hard to keep in a good position compared to Hatsuharu as Hatsu is simply faster. I originally thought the speed wouldn't be that big of an issue by the numbers but in play I found it bothersome. If you do bring Fubuki you better have Upgraded Speed Boost because you will be using it. I haven't played a lot of ranked battles but the one thing I noticed is all of my Hatsuharu battles I finished near or at the top, Win or Loss and Fubuki I finish middle of the pack regardless and can't seem to make it to the top.

I posted this endgame result because every DD in this match was IJN except our Gaede (I'm not sure what their Shinonome was doing?) Kind of a comparison although has a bit of variables.  Also check out their CV, he was wrecking everything and was actually the cause of my demise even though their Hatsu got the kill (He cross dropped me as I was beating Hastu's torpedo's so I ended up eating one trying to avoid the CV's).
