Canadian Ships?

I was wondering if Canada is ever going to get a ship of its own. During WWII we had quite a large navy. I'm only asking because if there was ever a time to release a Canadian Prem. would have been July 1st for Canada's 150th. You could give us a Cruiser or a Corvette.

Hmcs Haida has been brought up many times. It will definitely happen, and even though the 150th would be a fine choice to release it, it's likely they didn't plan ahead for it and was too late when the opportunity was recognized.

I don't think this would be a good fit. It has only one gun and is pretty slow at 16 knots. It was never made for direct surface engagements like we see in game but rather it was intended to defend convoys against sub attacks.

Yeah that's true. It would be hard to find a proper spot for it.

Been a few ideas out there. Namely Haida as a one off premium. Think they put up a poll at one point asking about interest because of the thread numbers. Little more out there, but suggested, has also been a Canadian tree, or somewhat more likely, a "Commonwealth" line consisting of ships from the entirety of the commonwealth, likely with tweaks to be different from UK ships (given many where of those classes) and likely two "Branches", one with Australia and another Canada that run parallel, inter-joining in any area where one line might have a gap should it exist and branching back out after if possible. Partially because as is Commonwealth looks to be at the moment just one off premiums and some would rather be able to use the captains elsewhere on ships. Which a line, likely consisting of modified UK ships, is likely far easier and simplier than integrating an ability to swap Commonwealth captains to UK and vice-versa.

Corvettes, unfortunately, are too small & weak for a WoWS class of ship (even tho Corvettes are an official fourth naval class of ship)

I would like it if WoWS offered players the option of flying a 'national flag' (as the ensign) as WoT offers national flags for turrets in WoT.

Then anyone can have any national flag they want on any ship.

 WoWS could offer this feature as a Doubloon purchasable item - they could make money from it.

 Then we Canadians here could fly our flag, as could anyone else (being Cdn we are fair to all, lol).

Haida will come at some point, they can't ignore it. Though a large navy, Canada had very few ships larger than a destroyer. A few cruisers and a couple escort size carriers are not enough to constitute having full lines. The other problem is most of our dds were British classes... So we can't really justify having Canada as a nation in game.the best we will get is a cw line with Canadian ships

Good idea , I don't know if you would find enough Canadian ships to do a complete line but Certinly a DD like the

HMCS Haida and some others would definitely sell here with the amount of Canadians playing

here who would spend $$ ... me being one

Not really. They're bigger than the patrol boats we have in tier 1.

 

I've also pitched river/coastal monitors, but only in their own specific game mode. Tier 2 hulls. 16 inch guns. 5 inches of armor. Have fun, kids.

Canada has a decent number of premium ships possible.

 

HMCS Haida - Tier 7 Tribal class destroyer 

 

HMCS Niobe - Tier 3 Diadem class protected cruiser

 

HMCS Quebec/Uganda - Tier 6 Crown Colony class light cruiser

 

HMCS Bonaventure - Tier ? Majestic class light carrier

 

HMCS Acadia - Tier 6 Queen Elizabeth class battleship 

 

HMS Nabob - Tier V Bogue class escort carrier 

 

HMCS Skeena/Saguenay - Tier V Modified A class destroyer

 

HMCS Crusader - Tier 6/7 C class destroyer 

 

Those are most of the more famous and noteworthy ships, some like Skeena/Saguenay and Nabob are mostly copy and paste jobs.

Agreed! WG, Canada deserves more as there is a good player base here for WoW.
