1,013 [BONKS] DOCTOR_CITADEL [BONKS] Beta Testers 1,451 posts 15,270 battles Report post #1 Posted July 2, 2017 Hello All! I'm getting dangerously close to finishing up all of the current ship lines in WoWs. That has been a long-time goal of mine and now... it's within my grasp. I've been contemplating what that would mean for my further enjoyment of WoWs once I'm finished. Sure, at that point, I could play whatever ship I want, anytime I want, however, I always like to have a personal goal. So, I'm considering the creation of a series of high-quality ship reviews/guides if there is a need/want out there for them. There are already several YouTubers and forumites that put out fantastic reviews/guides. I have no desire to displace them, simply to provide high-quality ship reviews/guides with my own flair. I will be putting together a new computer very soon and am considering starting the reviews/guides shortly thereafter if there appears to be interest. I have been playing on a laptop with an integrated graphics card for the last couple of years. I doubt anybody would've appreciated the N64-like stick-man graphics that I have dealt with on a daily basis polluting up my guides/reviews. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Up until this point, that has been my limiting factor. Perhaps that's soon to change. The question is: Is there a need/want for another ship reviewer/guide creator or are we, as a community, already saturated? Furthermore, WoWs currently feels rudderless in its future direction. Is there even a point in my investing the time and effort into this endeavor with that in mind? Your thoughts, opinions, criticisms, and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Instead, what I would say is that there is always a need for meaningful and unique opinions because, subjective as experiences with these ships can be, a new set of eyes coupled with a mouth that knows what they're talking about is always good viewing material. You do you. Don't try and compete with iChase, Zoup, etc. Just do your own thing, and chances are, at the very least, it'll be worth watching. Edit: Clarifying that when I say "compete" I mean as in trying to immediately achieve their viewer base. That comes with time. What is TRULY missing is a CV review/instruction with the presenter telling us EXACTLY what keys are being pressed to match what is happening on the screen. In several cases, I get the impression someone else is running the ship, and the ship reviewer is telling me what I can already see.... worthless. And most of the CV reviews are old anyway.. Cross dropping torpedoes with a Bogue??? Not in a couple years, pal.

So do we "need" another? No. But there is always room for someone new IF they provide something new. As I don't really know you, I don't know what you have in mind for content, I can not say if your the right man. But if you think you have something special/unique to provide then I won't be the one to discourage.

Also, concentrating on "views" would not be my primary focus. As a side project, I would be more focused on providing quality, helpful information and highlighting how to play at a higher level in a particular ship. 37 minutes ago, AVR_Project said: Some of the presenters come across a bit too wordy with little substance. If I decide to move forward, I've already decided on a very succinct, to the point method that quickly dissects a ship and then provides information on how to effectively play it in the current environment. I'm fairly proficient in all classes except CVs, unfortunately, so I'm afraid I won't be able to fill that particular niche.

440 More_Witches Members 1,507 posts 1,138 battles Report post #11 Posted July 2, 2017 I think the question is less "does the community need more content creators?" and more "do I want to create content for the community?" If your answer to the second question is "yes", then by all means It's only really saturation if everyone is doing the same exact thing with the same exact flair Also, even the most prolific content creators have gaps in what they've made, and with every major balance and mechanical change to the game, old content becomes increasingly out of date

There's probably a niche to be filled there, especially from someone that has experience with all the tech trees and has played them at a high level. I tried to review all the tier 10s last summer but simply don't have time to do it the way that I wanted.

Your thoughts, opinions, criticisms, and suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I see it as 'the more the better'. And as others noted, a lot of the reviews focus on premiums and I've felt it would be nice to have some in depth guide on tech tree ships. I would welcome your insights into the different ships personally. But... "Furthermore, WoWs currently feels rudderless in its future direction. Is there even a point in my investing the time and effort into this endeavor with that in mind?" That's tricky. By its nature WoWS will always be a niche game. There just aren't that many people interested in naval games, and then those that want to learn the technical side to all the mechanics are still fewer... If you're after a larger population competitive game... LoL/DOTA, Overwatch, CS... or other such mainstream titles, those are where you want to be. WoWS will never be anywhere close to as popular as mainstream titles like those. The market just isn't there... But then again, what's the point in investing time in any game..? The people that are here are OK with that on some level, at least. How do you feel about WG's ecosystem, community relations, and so on? Do you still have fun playing the game itself? Would creating in depth guides feel satisfying for you?
