Hell I could have done better than whoever was the historical adviser/expert for that film. Irks me when a historical film goes for ratings by tossing in a bunch of phony crap. Does real history an injustice. If you saw it name some things that were pure baloney and crap in that film. I will start the list: 1. Everybody knows it takes two hits to knock out a destroyer in a game of Battleship. 2. Who goes to the bar after midnight and expects to get food? What gas station closes, ever? 3. Everybody knows you fire HE at aliens. Ok...your turn! This just for fun. Bored today. Oh, if you want you can add other bull dung phony crap from other war movies you have seen. (Just kidding, happy Canada Day or something.)

8,195 [SOUP] Chobittsu Members 9,414 posts Report post #6 Posted July 2, 2017 Where do I begin with this film... Let's start with the handbrake turn. Assuming the anchor latches onto something on the seabed that can hold back the weight of an Iowa-class battleship (unlikely, as the area around Oahu is mainly sand), that's many thousands of tons of warship suddenly snapping that chain taught. So, points of failure: Anchor, Chain links, spool, mounting points on ship. An anchor is meant to stop a ship from drifting in port, not bring it to a stop suddenly. So, assuming nothing there breaks, let's move to the next flaw: tens of thousands of tons of warship stopping suddenly. Hope you didn't want that keel. Buckling hull and superstructure would sink the ship from all that crap coming to a halt. Then there's the whole it stops from a pivot point directly behind, but it swings it's stern out as if a Space Shuttle SRB was bolted sideways to the deck... how does this work?
