When a BB is fully burning, should you keep firing HE or AP?

Depends on what type of Cruiser I'm in. If I'm in a CA (Heavy Cruiser), I'll switch to AP...can always switch back to re-light, if in a CL (Light Cruiser), then I keep the home fires burning

Against an angled BB that'll probably bounce the AP its probably better to keep on with reduced dmg HE instead of 0dmg bounces but definitely AP if its reasonably broadside or has appropriate superstructure.

Sounds reasonable. Thanks.

HE, simply because my main cruiser is an IFHE Cleveland, and those salvoes can do ~5000 damage on top of the fires.

That depends on the ship you are using and on the ranges. If you have a target that you can reliably penetrate with AP then go for it, but if your shells lack the penetration to deal consistent damage then you should stick to HE and aim for AA-armaments, Secondaries and for the place where the fires may burn out.

A lot of cruisers have great AP, British, US, Germany, etc. They do pretty heafty damage to broadside targets which a lot of BBs do not expect, they just sail broadside to you thinking , oh you're just a cruiser, no need to fear.

Ah yes, the sweet satisfaction of tearing off 11k HP from a BB that thought it was okay to go full broadside to my Hipper/Eugen. :cap_tea:

Had that happen twice in a row in my Prinz once. 11k salvos to two Bismarck's going down the middle on Two Brothers.

AP if you are getting penetrations and HE if you are not.

Right or wrong, if HE isn't doing damage while the red BB is on fire, I will switch to a new target and set more fires (if possible) if no other target is available then AP until the fire goes out or red is dead.

Yeah definitely focus on a new target if there is one, if not, it's all a matter of which does more damage based on angling and penetration capability. The only other exception I can think of to remain on a specific target is if they are a unicum player and it's imperative to get their guns out of the game asap. Or they are the only ones targeting you and you're on low health and your specific survival is required to carry the win. But that has to be a properly made objective decision.

AP if you can reliably pen.  HE if you cant.

nothing is more satisfying than watching a bb sail broadside to my DM at point blank.  8-10k salvos every 5.5 seconds(less if i am damaged).   even better if they were an iowa before the cit buff.

in one of my last games in a bali, i charged an iowa and got its side.  my team kept saying use HE.  I used AP, more or less deleted him after a few shots.  they were suprised. i laughed.

if a BB or ANY ship is burning in all spots..  you SWITCH to a new target.
