I've noticed two Tubers using the term "Captain" instead of "Commander".

Has there been a change that I'm not aware of?

Starting at 5:12..

In title and throughout..

Ever since I started playing, anyone that says Captain always gets corrected, both in-game and on these forums.

To my knowledge, you are the Captain.

You can understand the confusion.

From a gamer's point of view they are interchangable

However destroyers and some cruisers tend to be commanded by Commanders or Lt. Commanders, while Captains and above tend to be in charge of capital ships (and some cruisers).

^Pretty much this.  However, it's important to note that the commanding officer of a ship is traditionally called "captain" while onboard said ship, regardless of actual rank.  So while the commander of a destroyer may only be a Lt. Commander, he'd still typically be called "the captain."

Yeah. He's the captain, he's just not a Captain.

forward the motion that henceforth in the game all Captain captains are referred to as "big C's" and all non-Captain captains are referred to as "little c's"

Captain is tradition, as others have stated here.

From a game perspective, I'd say calling them commanders is also a holdover from WoT, since some of the base foundations are similar. May have carried over.

You're the Captain of the ship regardless of rank, but you have to pick commander skills as you gain points with commander xp.
