The most common advice I've seen given over seven seasons of Ranked is; "play until you lose, then quit and go do something else."

Okay then; started Rank 19, played four games, three wins, then my loss. I'm out for today; ended at Rank 16; just 1 short of my initial goal of 15.

How many games did you play before your first loss?

Why would you stop playing after just 1 loss is beyond me. Anyway, I played none so far.

I try and move up 1 rank a day. If I do that then I'll quitm but sometimes I'm on a roll and will play till I lose 1. Sometimes I'll keep going till I lose 2 or 3 in a row then get frustrated stop plying rank for a couple hrs or the day. Other rank season I've been so frustrated I take a week long break from rank. Taking the breaks has helped me reach rank 1 in 5 seasons now l, I'll be working on my 6th rank 1 season this time around. Hopefully I will make it.

I'll keep playing until I feel like stopping. I'm not sure when that'll be. If the play is painfully slow, then I'll lose interest after 4-6 matches; if it's faster then I'll stick around longer. Um, if I get insulted a lot then I'll probably lose interest sooner. I hope that doesn't happen much, but.. that's probably overly optimistic.

I normally play 6-10 random matches at a time, but it'll probably be fewer than that on average in ranked.

Play one so far Esteemed ( :) ) Prophet ad lost . But it did get me all the rewards for making rank 19 (where I started just like you with 1 star now have none) .

But then I only have two tier 6 ships ; Budyonny with a 19 point commander and Graf Spee with a 13 point commander .

Same.  Aim for one rank per day, and only keep going if I'm on a roll.

Yea. You'll never get through grinding your stock T6 ships if you quit after 1 loss.

OP stated they only have a goal of reaching rank 15 at the moment so quitting after a loss is a reasonable plan. If OP was going for rank 1 obviously grinding more battles and allowing for more losses would make sense.

It's advice to avoid getting frustrated. Come back and play some more later if you want; but if you stop after just one loss, your mood is generally still good, and you are less likely to be irritated; which can lead to mistrakes; or desperate for a win or a Star; which also leads to mistakes; when you come back later; if you choose to do so that day.

This is similar to gamblers who get wound up; "Just one more bet! I know I'll get a win this time!' and instead wind up loosing their shirts, and everything else.

Using a stock ship in Ranked generates salt like you wouldn't believe.

In any case; I don't need to. All of the tier 6 ships I might care to use are already fully researched; and the New Mexico I used today had a 19 point captain at the helm...

...plus me; with nearly two years in the game now; (September, 2015.)

Oh of course it does.

Ranking out hasn't been a worthwhile endeavor since season 3. Might as well use it to grind ships without trashing your random solo winrate.

I'll play until I get enough xp to level my T6 French cruiser, which is only like two matches. Ranked doesn't rank anything. They should call it "grind" if they want to be honest.

Even if I have no need to worry about that; I will admit I understand your point.

I should stop soon playing ranked. I won 2, lost 3 but was highest scoring player in 2 of them.

The problems that plaqued the other seasons are the same

1) people bring stock ships

2) people bring no camo on a DD

3) DD yolo off

4) players are AFK

5) players are not listening

6) players are clueless about maps, when to use what ammo etc. (we lost because a Farragut shoot AP against a angled lowhealth BB)

7) carriers that have no idea how to play a carrier

Being up that high, I'd keep playing until you reach the last irrevocable.

Now, when you get into the 10-1 ranges, I would pay more attention losses and more importantly the times you play.

I think the worse thing you could do would be playing on the weekends regardless of the times.

Keep in mind, ranked has more to do with perseverance than skill.

Still at work, so zero games lost so far :fish_aqua:

But how many I play before quitting Ranked for the day depends on where in the ranks I am. Since I'm starting out below 15 and there's irrevocables beneath me, I'll play all day to get to 15 and claim the participation flag. From 15 to 12, I'll generally play until I feel myself slipping and making dumb mistakes, even if all my matches are wins. From 12 up, I will usually only play until I'm at zero stars and risking dropping a rank, or one star from ranking up and lose to make it two stars to rank up.

My first goal each season is 15 and the flag. Secondary goal is reaching Rank 10. Stretch goal is ranking out; I've only done it once.

This shouldn't surprise you, you are still in the craptier ranks.

I really don't do Ranked, but my friends do and it's always entertaining hearing them cry about how life is in there.  Randoms is stressful enough as it is.

I don't know where most people start but I guess I started 16 for some reason, 1st game win, got over 270 flags, camo a day of premium, credits...Had to grab my inhaler was so happy. Ranked or not I really enjoy the 7 on 7 mode it gives a much closer nit (or is it knit?) feeling. In 12 on 12 it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle.

Since the top tiers give camo, I have no choice, I am a slave to trying to get more camo......

I mean, people already cry about losing in normal Random play.  But when my buddies talk about how their day in Ranked went, it's like I can see a hand coming out of the computer monitor slapping them as they play with tears flowing out :Smile_teethhappy:

One of my div mates has been prodding me to do it for a while now, especially considering how much I play on some days.

Same here. Goal every season is the participation flag tier, (usually 15,) I worry about after, after. Only made it to 12, irrevocable at the time, once.

Knit is correct; a 'nit,' is a louse/lice/bedbug egg.
