So I noticed Marblehead is in the shop. I have most of the US Premiums, including Albany and except for Big E and Saipan. Is Marblehead a good cruiser to pick up?

I found it to be the worst of the Omaha clones, she has a bit of range issue.

Marblehead has been buffed to decent levels. It's firepower is good, but it's still a squishy Omaha at heart.

No, not really.

 

Playing for fun? Murmansk is way better if you're looking for a fun tier 5 pewpew boat. Not that tier five MM is fun right now anyway.

 

Playing to train captains or make money? There are better ships out there for this.

She is in a tough spot with the current MM, and has a issue with range.  Murmansk is objectively better though I still prefer the Marblehead. But not enough to actually take her out to sea any more. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone unless they just love the Omaha and wasn't a premium t5 USN cruiser.

The Marblehead Detection is horrible, 11 KM undetected, I don't' remember now if my DM captain has Concealment.

Use to do very well in it. That was before the Texas and Arizona that chew these Omaha classes up.

Use it like a destroyer leader and stop sailing in the open and its fine. Having a Red Cleveland driver complement me on how well I used Marblehead was one of the high points of my owning it.

Thanks for the feedback. I have Murmansk and she is fun, so I guess Marblehead is the worst of the 3.

as mentioned, it is the worst of the omaha ships. it has been buffed which has made it more competitive but the murmansk is just better. 

 

the marble can still be a solid ship when played right. it counters DDs well and can play against equal tier BBs and CA/Ls, but in T7 games you really gotta watch out...

 

it was a favorite of mine going way back to beta but power creep has simply passed it by. id only get it if youre collecting or have other personal reasons.

I might be biased too. I like my Marblehead and as it is a good trainer I play it more (and get better results) than with Omaha.

That said,Murmansk is better and at T5 all three are usually in a tough spot

i enjoy my marblehead. but  it is very squishy.  expect to be citadeled very often.  the torps, have decent range, but are slow and dont do a lot of damage

 

as a crew trainer, i feel other usa ships do it much better.  and with it being tier 5 your going to get craped on  by mm all the time.

 

i would recomend  that you save your money ,   but despite all that , i have had some great games in the marblehead.  against other light cruisers, switching to ap can just crush them.

The Marblehead used to be better back before the great AFT nerf.  Immediately post nerf, it was horrible.  But with the recent buffs, it's somewhat better, I suppose.

Exactly why I did. Survival through all the American-British-Dutch-Australian battles, and her epic journey home to the US across the Indian and Atlantic oceans? Reason enough, IMHO.

Marblehead's Journey home from ABDA qualifies it for a 'Crowning Moment of Awesome.' Murmansk is just 'Amerikanski cruiser.'

Got one for free. She's a meh ship at best. Thank god for the range buff. She literally has less range than her concealment for a LONG time. She's a port princess.

I dunno, she outperforms Murmansk on NA server stats - taking top place for T5 cruisers - both within the last two weeks and for all time. I might have to give her a closer look, because Omaha was one of my favorite boats when I started the game.
