Was wondering about Fuso in Ranked, and then this happened

Its actually more of a "hey look at what I just did thread".  LOL.

 

I had been wondering about the Fuso in Ranked.  I really liked the ship when I played it forever ago.  I haven't had it out since I continued my push up to the Yamato.  I'm thinking it might have been a year ago since I had it out.  So, I figured I might take the tub out for a spin to familiarize myself with it again.  

First game out:

 

It could have been better, but I missed alot of long range shots on cruisers because I misjudged the hang time for the shells due to the distance to target.   Wow, could I ever rip through a ship, even BBs, once I lined it up properly.  It even moved really well so that I could defeat the torp drops from the planes.  There were 2 CVs per side in this game.  It definately has my consideration for ranked now.

O took mine out Wednesday and had a good game in her.

Although she is squishy, keeping her distance let's you dodge shells.

1 cit, no HC or Confed, with an average of under 2k per hit. So, you hid at the back and sniped the low health ships other people worked hard to get down and tanked damage and potential damage, the kind of BB driver most players can't stand. Please don't be on my ranked teams, in fact, do us all a favor and just stay away. "Oh, but I have caps!" It's easy to get caps with help, and no reds in your face, just get 75% of the ship across with 5 seconds left on the cap, and presto, you have an assist.

The Fuso isn't a brawler, dingus. He's playing her correctly; she's just too squishy to be in the van with the cruisers. It's Arizonas, New Mexicos, Warspites and Bayerns that'll be the in-your-face BBs in Ranked, not Fusos.

You will earn alot of salt for playing a sniper in ranked.

If a Fuso driver plays their sniper boat in Ranked and is...gasp!...good at sniping, then what's the problem? Fuso is a sniper boat; it's her party trick and stock-in-trade.

I'm not a very good BB sniper, however, so I won't be bringing my Fuso into Ranked.

Question: how do you hide at the back and tank damage? Enough to get a Fireproof and a Dreadnought?

Also how the [edited] can he be in the back sniping for over 90k damage and 5 kills AND get Dreadnought and Fireproof and both capture assists AND defenses?  What magical world are you from?

 

Maybe I should look to see what you have on your Fuso.

I'm not a very good BB sniper, however, so I won't be bringing my Fuso into Ranked.

Fuso is a giant shotgun. No, it's not a sniper. It's a midrange bruiser.

Fuso brawls just fine. She can hang with every one of the other T6 BBs, with only AZ giving her real issues. And that range is for closing and opportunity shots, not to sit and snipe from. Not with 1.5 sigma and 6 twin turret grouping.

Yes, definately wasn't long range sniping.  That's not my game.  I tend to get in too close at times if anything.  If it hadn't been that I hadn't played the ship in about a year, I probably would have done 150k of damage in her.  I did miss a lot of shots that I normally would have made, just because I wasn't familiar with the hang time of the shells.  The same holds true for the damage per shot.  Not all shots were able to give me the max damage available because they weren't exactly landed on the ideal target location. 

 

What I did like, which was the same as when I originally played it, was that the Fuso handled well and allowed quick adjustements in the game.  The long range guns do have quite a spread at max distance.  Wouldn't want to play sniper in her.  Might land a few shots, but there would be a lot of wasted metal landing in the water around your target.  At intermediated and closer distances, the guns performed really well.  If my aim had been better, the results would have showed a much higher damage total.  I was starting to get the hang of it by the end to the game.  A few more times out and I'll be on target.  I can easily see me playing some of my ranked games in this ship.

I'd be more annoyed it the Fuso sailed like a Bayern.  Honestly, people who are annoyed at a Fuso sniping a bit, have no idea how that ship plays.

Got 95k in a game with Fuso last night....and lost. Proceeded to lose next 5 games, no luck with Fuso for me.

Ah yes, someone with 6 battles of experience in the Fuso is definitely someone who should give advice on how to play it. Especially with such stellar performance as yours.

Yes.  I find I turn the ship to help with the gun traverse.  And, with 3 sets of guns mounted forward and 3 sets rear, you can get half your guns on target fairly quickly when doing that.

I had a similar game myself, getting 100k and a loss.  Fuso has given me my best games so far, but not all my wins.  Wins are coming hard and I'm only getting a 50% win rate so far.  Unfortuately most of my losses have me placing 2nd by a couple of xp and losing a star.  The team play is a bit unortodox at the moment.  Some of the games have been exciting and came down to the very end.  Others have been total collapses with players running all over the map on their own.  I even got accused of trying to kill steal by shooting at a low health DD with my Anshan as it came into my shooting view.  Apparently that DD was farther away than a BB, so I should have shot at the BB instead of trying to secure the death of a priority target.  In ranked, I'll always try to secure a kill on any ship so it can't escape to save the game later.

Fuso is no sniper.  It's a 12 barrel Japanese shotgun!
