Some oldies I didn't see mentioned, with a few so-so but a couple quite good:

Away All Boats (1956) - an APA (attack transport) gets a new commander for its new crew on the way to Pacific battlegrounds; look for a young Clint Eastwood.  [very good]

Corvette K225 (1943) - a Canadian escort battles U-boats & weather in the North Atlantic; look for a young Robert Mitchum.  [very good]

Destroyer (1943) - a chief bosuns mate re-enlists after helping to build a new destroyer, but the ship fails her sea trials and gets relegated to backwater activities.

Go for Broke! (1951) - Japanese-Americans (primarily from the West Coast & Hawaii) serve in Europe with the US army while their families are interned.

A Twist of Sand (1968) - post-WW2 adventure involving crew members of a secret mission to Africa.

Added all but A Twist of Sand as that is more a adventure movie.  Looks like an interesting movie though.

it is on the honorable mentions list in the first post.  I was limited to 30 choices in the poll.

Most of the selectable choices, with a bunch of honorable mentions.  All for different reasons.  I glad you did not configure it for "Pick only one!"

How about a poll for WWII navy movies alone?  Since this is World of Warships.....

Just a thought.

Favorite WWII Movie Quote:  From 12 O'clock High

General Savage was having a dring about a successful mission.  Ground Exec Stoval was ahead of the game.  Not exact quotes, but close to grab the conversation:

Savage:  Have you been drinking again?

Stoval: Yes sir, I have.  And as you may recall then that I stated it may happen again, and it has.  General, I have been thinking, and that is a dangerous thing for a man to do.

Love it!

Nothing I've ever seen in theaters compares to Saving Private Ryan's openening beach scene. Felt like there were real bullets whizzing by my head so awesome.

That was the best opening 20 minutes of any war movie I have ever seen.

On the honorable mentions list I split it up into naval ww2 movies and than everything else.
