Since Hood's historically useless rockets are godlike in game...

...Can we get type 3 shells for IJN bbs as well? :Smile_playing:

I mean, it could work...zoom in to the first level, and fire a pre-loaded type 3 round at a fast moving squadron could be tricky, and certainly should be rewarded with some plane kills...

Especially when the type 3 rounds are absolutely harmless against ships at any range...

While it might work, you would have to have your guns pointed near vertical stance, and that's something not possible in this game engine, as of right now.

Only if they come with the necessary special effects to make them a pyrotechnics show. If there's no fireworks, it's not worth it. End of story.

Don't the Hood's rockets just use the generic AA animation?  I remember that being one complaint about them.

Pretty sure they're just regular AA models. I don't own a Hood, so I can't confirm.

Then again, they are rockets with a 180mm diameter. If we get Type 3 shells with a 460mm diameter, and historically, a much bigger AoE, possible range (based on fuse setting), and explosion, I'd think that WG would model something like the pyrotechnics they were, even if it is just a glorified hit marker-type explosion.

Then WG needs to code in the verticality.  :Smile-_tongue:

Well, your guns can point near vertical I think, but to aim them is something else.

Yamato's guns can elevate to +45 degrees.

Compare this to the +85 of the 5/38s and /54s, or the +90 degrees of the 100mm on the Akizuki and others.

That's because of the game engine. IRL, that steep of an angle wouldn't be correct to shoot the shells at that range. Also, something something engine.

Assuming they pen or assuming they shatter?  Either way, I think they find much more use against surface ships.  Imagine setting a dd on fire, then lighting a perma fire the next salvo.  Or even better, lighting up that Currywurst with perma fires.

IJN also had 12cm incendiary fragmentation rockets, which are related to Type 3 beehive rounds.

They were more effective than RN unrotating projectile rockets.

Yeah, but all the flaming planes kinda make up for it.
