PSA: If there is a Minotaur out in the open and he doesn't have smoke: SHOOT IT.

Tonight I experienced one of my most infuriating losses as a DD player because 4 battleships and 2 cruisers refused to shoot at a WASD Minotaur who thought he was a Khabarovsk. He was 13km from them. 13KM FROM THEM. AND NOBODY SHOT AT HIM.

It came down to 4 ships left, 2 on either side, and I couldn't get near a cap because a smokeless Minotaur was one of the last survivors. Let that sink in. A smokeless minotaur, the last to survive. Not a Kurfurst, not a Yamato. A ship so thin, paper can cut it. And yet there he was parading the high seas WASD like some tactical mastermind receiving positive reinforcement, as if he was somehow outsmarting the dunderhead BB players not shooting at him.

BB and cruiser players can whine all they want about DD's not doing their job and capping, but do you think I'm going near a cap with a minotaur? Come on man. Just one double click is all I ask for.

Nothing makes me happier in my Mino than to just float around, park, throw smoke, and erase ships....more so when I play smart and wait for the slow sausages to bow tank each other, then engage, then have free reign.

:D

An unchallenged Minotaur is a terrifying thing. Focus them down.

I don't have one, but I've seen what one can do once they turn a flank.  Yeah.  I think they should change the name from "Minotaur" to "Shootthetaur".

I respect Mino players...that line is VERY unforgiving...you can't be a potato with that line.

A sunken Minotaur makes for a happy carrier player that just might provide a bit more assistance...so there's that too.

Even a challenged Mino is a tough opponent.

Got focused in my Neptune the other day in smoke. Had 8 ships shooting at me, including a minotaur. Lost 3/4s of my health.

Just to show how strong these ships can be, I survived the battle with over 1/2 my health and sank 3 ships.

My point is that you gotta shoot British cruisers until they are dead. Hitting them down to even 1 hp won't do it.

Challenge accepted! :D

Lemme know when you rage quit when you pop smoke at full speed and then over shoot it then get murdered.

My roommate has been playing with the line I told him flat out: if you can't master the smoke, give up.

Ah yes, getting used to the smoke and knowing when to pop it is a definite skill required to be effective as a RN CL captain. Unfortunately, it's also a dead giveaway to anyone paying attention when they see you slowing down that you're about to smoke up. As soon as I see a RN CL panic smoke, I immediately launch torps just inside the outer edge of their second puff. By the time torps arrive, the CL is usually just stopped or just started to reverse, easy pickings.

This is why you slow roll behind cover.

Ocean map = death sentence for RN CL

I also had an infuriating loss when a Minotaur was tunnel visioned and chases a Khabarovsk when there was a Kagero less than 10 km from him. I was sunk by the Kagero when it smoked up and flooded me.

Ironically, I have no issue with Ocean while running my Minotaur. Had some of my best games on Ocean. I guess I was just lucky.

Same in mine, as long as there's no CVs around to perma spot me.

You just kinda circle round to the back of the red fleet until the engagement starts then rain silver hail on BBs who have their guns pointed the wrong way.  All the red DDs are out the other way spotting so you can control your concealment.  CA/CLs may try to hunt you but since there's no cover they'll show broadside to your BBs in trying to do so.

I haven't survived one yet in my Mino but I get good damage on ocean any time I've been there

Nah, the Minotaur only shoots AP and is not a threat, plus it's so crazy hard to citadel all you ever get are overpens.  Trust me, it's never worth your time to shoot at high tier RN CLs......:Smile_hiding:
