Since its inception.

It's just that it has 4.5km torps with very poor firing arcs, so you rarely ever get a chance to use them.

Wow, I never remember seeing them before.

Only usable if you want to commit suicide or a ship stupid enough to sail behind a rock while you sit just 3km behind it.  But yes, they have them since they put the ship into the game.

Yeah and since it has very poor armor it's likely to get Citadel hit yo death lol or many ships have secondary gun ranges beyond 4.5 km so you can get killed by gun fire that way before using the torpedoes

Shhhhh... every once in a while you get to use them but don't tell anybody!

And don't forget that the Flint has Mahan's 9.2 km torps.

Yeah she's had them since her release. They're good, just ridiculously short ranged. Best used for emergencies, ambushes, and self defense.

please don't mistake the Atlantas from all the other different WWII games such as Battlestations: Pacific to not have torpedoes

The Atlanta's torpedos are a Lie.  Its fake news.  Please continue driving up close to Atlantas as you see fit.  Nothing to see here.

Carry on.  :Smile_glasses:

You don't remember torpedoes on the Atlanta since nobody really ever uses them.

I mean, when people are close enough for the torpedoes, it's normally quicker and easier to simply blap them to death with her guns.

It's always had torps, they are just so short ranged, almost never used.

With a 4.5km range, it doesn't have torps.  I can't even remember that last time I fired torps in my Atlanta.

I do. Had an Iowa come around the corner at 7km. I said screw it and charged in and got my fish off right before he blew me to pieces. Got 2 torp hits though.

Best torp run was this NC trying to side scrape an island. IE backing up enough to clear his guns from behind an island then pulling up to reload. So I ran around the island at 3km and let him eat a full broadside of torps. He died in a spectacular explosion.

It doesn't....

Those tubes are just decoration.

Spoiler

May as well be with how short of a range they have, and how squishy the ship is... :Smile_trollface:

I've used torpedoes in my Atlanta probably 2-3 times tops.  Granted, it was usually stunning kill and probably a seriously pissed off Red player on the receiving end.

I must correct myself.  The Flint's torps have a range of 9.2km and speed of only 55 knots just like the Mahan.  However, Mahan max damage is only 11,600 compared to 16,633 for the Flint:\

Very rarely used.  Though I had NC charge mine in a cyclone, and I reminded him I had them.  I barely lived that encounter, the NC was left to wonder what happened.

they've always been  there, i think people just notice its guns and use them more, as getting into torp range with Atlanta is near suicide, as it has next to no armor, Atlanta's torpedoes are pretty much a "last resort" kind of thing, like the Russian torps, only really good for self protection

Don't use 'em often...but they do get used.  And when they get used, they often do wonders.

Yep, no torps here. Just like the German BBs at Tier 7 and 8, no Torps, get in close and beat them down with guns.

The short range on them is why I figured it was a good idea to get up close and personal early on. Mostly because I always hoped Atalantas forget they had them in the first place.
