Scharnhorst: Have it's guns gotten worse?

I realize I don't play as much now as I used to, but I do play my Scharnhorst quite often and it seems like it's main guns aren't as accurate as they used to be. 

 

I'm assuming this is just me rather than the ship actually getting a documented nerf to it's guns but I just wanted to double check.

I've been playing my Scharnhorst at least one round per session, and I have not noticed a difference, it's just the bad sigma that makes the shells go everywhere.

No, in the past couple of patches, the data miners noted no changes to Scharnhorst.

I have zero problems with my Scharnhorst. I play it almost exclusively,training my captains.it can be deadly accurate. As we all know RNG does play a small role in this and we experience a small amount of wishy washy dispersion at times. However that is a very small price to pay for excellence

Yes... I figure those requirements are designed to protect the organized group of people, legally. But not being in a clan myself, I cannot say for sure.

Stop shooting from 19-18km range. Get close to about 15-14km and you will notice a significant improvement in term of accuracy. German BBs are not mean to be sniper, learn how to play to their strenght

Actually they can snipe, even more so with the aiming mod 1 upgrade. Their higher velocity guns give them a advantage at range over the other nations. Although the best way to use a german battleship is universally, hit your target from afar then close in for the kill. Its better to have a ship that can wreck anything at any range.

Are you running ASM 1 or the Secondaries mod? I have heard ASM 1 makes a huge diff in her accuracy.

Yeah, any ship can snipe, but you get like 1-2 hits max.
It's about the play style and mentality. If you keep hitting others from afar, waiting until they are weak, then going in, then you can't get more than 70k damages per game. Get close and personal (when the situation allow you too, of course), don't afraid to get shot at, then every match will be 100k+ and full of thrills

ASM 1 is the way to go! Your gun caliber is small, so you need every shell to hit if you want to make a dent. A good salvo can only get you like 5-7k, on average.

Schan's secondaries only go out to about 6.5km, so secondaries mod won't be as effective. They are only used to set [edited] on fire. You deal damages at short range with torps, not secondaries.

I got used to running the secondaries mod +CQB flags when I first got her. A LOT of my runs in her were top tier runs and even without ASM 1 I was closing to ranges where my mains were effective and my 7.3km secs were lighting and tearing people up. Now..last couple moths I always seem to be on when Im getting uptiered so I swtiched back to ASM1 because its--as you said--much better to have the greater accuracy at range than worry about secondary targets.

I prefer to hover around 14-13km and duke it out. I stay with the bulk of my team, and if I see an opening in the enemy line (no torp walling DDs, etc) I charge forward and break their line in a quick decisive push. Sigma means nothing, the Scharnhorst excels at close range due to it's torpedoes, turtleback armor, and ability to tank enemy fire (when well angled) like no other. If the enemy starts pushing into your line, your good speed allows you to intercept them quickly. Your great secondaries set fires and deliver pain to any DD that comes close. Your guns are more amazing for gunning down cruisers with ease, and even dealing good damage to enemy BBs. Your torpedoes are a swift, devastating punch that will severely hurt or destroy any enemy you hit them with.

 

Scharnhorst is an amazing brawler, and can easily take on many more ships if played well.

 

And I hate to have to say this, but don't use HE as the default shell. Your AP in the Scharnhorst is a better option unless your firing at a well angled target or someone who is very far out. So many people just constantly use HE in the Scharnhorst and it's so irritating. Your AP can give some great damage numbers, don't ignore it simply because the Scharnhorst has 283mm guns.

 

My WTR in the Scharn is 1250. 183 games and a WR of 69%. Your average at the Scharnhorst, and your WR in it needs improvement. Your damage, kills, or whatever else mean absolutely nothing if you consistently lose more than you win in a ship. If your WR is under 50% then your hindering your team and should take a look at why that is. You may think you "know what you are doing" but there are other people who are more skilled in the ship than you are. Never believe that you are good enough to simply shrug off any advice, or that you couldn't have done better when your team loses a match.

 

Your SR in the Scharnhorst is 40%, whereas my SR is 19%. Despite that, I still have a far better WTR and WR than you in the Scharnhorst. Maybe you should give the idea that playing a sniper or long range in a Scharnhorst might not be using the ship to it's fullest potential rather than dismissing the idea simply because you believe you "know what your doing".

I can agree to that, I got bolder with my battleships and the amount joy the pain and suffering one can inflict is addictive. I sill disagree with you though on the 1-2 hits. If RNG loves you half as much as its loved me some days that's all you need especially if you land a juicy citadel hit here an there. Oddly enough sniping down range is where I tend to get most of my citadel hits. That one stray shell always seem to find it sooner or later.
