Mechanics & Rules:

Turns must be posted in the gameplay thread.

Turns may be submitted from 00:01 on Monday until 23:59 on Friday each week. All times are in British Summer Time.

Numbers must be listed at the start of each turn.

The players are responsible for gathering said numbers, as well as keeping them up to date. Failure to do so may result in penalties.

Up to 3 Researches at a time, to be posted in your turn

Said researches may be Project names only, so long as the specifics are sent to the Moderator.

Research cap is two years, rolling with the progress of the RP.

Researches, except for naval designs, will be prototyped and tested as part of the research process, and minor problems corrected in the production version.

Historical progress is made with elements that are not researched.

Anything that was developed during the Turn of the RP is available to you as of the next turn.

Pre-existing alliances are optional, to be renewed or not T1.

Formal Naval Plans must be published.

Naval Estimates shall be given on a yearly basis.

Warships are built in two stages. The first stage is limited by a denoted capacity, listed below. You may increase this by building more docks. However, this tends to be expensive, so must be thoroughly outlined. The second stage is unlimited.

Ships being built under existing estimates, if already laid down, deduct from your capacity. The value given below is the grand total.

If you have no native design capacity you must tender foreign companies.

Foreign Built shipping must have a clear Contract, including price, the company, the yard, etc.

Army strength, until stated otherwise, is nominal only. It will take time to mobilise reservists.

No declarations of war may be made prior to Turn 6, giving players 5 turn’s grace.

Standing Orders for the military, as well as tactical doctrines, should be provided to the moderator. If none are provided then the Moderator will assume them.

If you die once, you die for good.

Construction Capacity:

Austria-Hungary: 12 (2 Trieste, 2 Fiume, 2Pola, 4 Monfalcone, 2 Porte Re)

Chile: 0

France: 22 (4 St Nazaire, 2 Brest, 2 Lorient, 2 Bordeaux, 2 La Seyne, 2 Cherbourg, 2 Rochefort, 2 Toulon, 2 Nantes, 2 Le Harve)

Germany: 28 (4 Kiel, 4 Hamburg, 4 Danzig, 4 Wilhelmshaven, 4 Bremen, 4 Stettin, 4 Elbing)

Japan: 16 (2 Kure, 2 Yokosuka, 2 Nagasaki, 2 Kobe, 2 Sasebo, 2 Maizuru, 2 Tokyo, 2 Osaka)

Netherlands: 8 (2 Rotterdam, 2 Shiedam, 2 Vlissingen, 2 Amsterdam)

Ottoman Empire: 2 (Istanbul)

Portugal: 2 (Lisbon)

Romania: 0

Russia: 12 (6 St Petersburg, 6 Nikolayev)

Spain: 5 (3 Ferrol, 2 Cartagena)

United States of America: 24 (4 Philadelphia, 2 Camden, 4 Quincy, 4 Newport, 2 Brooklyn, 2 Bath, 2 Seattle, 2 San Francisco, 2 Wilmington)

Example Naval Estimate:

British 1904-5 Estimate

For a total sum of £36,900,000

Two (2) Battleships

Three (3) Armoured Cruisers

Thirteen (13) Destroyers

Ten (10) Submarines

Various works to infrastructure, etc.

Introduction:

The date is 31/12/1905.  Though few know it, the game has changed forever. In Portsmouth Dockyard, in the United Kingdom, the one battleship of the 1905-6 estimates is under construction. Three armoured cruisers have also been provided for, and they are no less revolutionary than their peer. All this remains under wraps, for now, however.

There are other lessons to be drawn from the Russo-Japanese War. Will these be taken into account? The altered world order means that new potential foes begin to eye each other first. Who will blink? Who will strike?

      That is up to you.
