hi !! it only requires a brief glance at my WTR profile, scanning my horrendous stats, or even glancing at my signature to establish and verify that I suck at this game. it is not something I am proud of, nor comfortable with, particularly as it's the first time I have struggled both short and long term with a game I like. after several minutes of pondering how to address this, I have decided to appeal to the kind, gentle, constructive nature of the WoWs forum community for help!!

my petition is simple: allow me to use the ship of my choice, not limited to T6, to use in Ranked Battles when the season starts. now, if you're normal, and I doubt that many of you are, the first thing you'll be thinking is: what's in it for me!?! well, I have answers for you, and you will like them...

A) I won't cause yet another humiliating slaughter loss if I am on your team. in fact, I will be closer to average results.

B) I won't be scoring top place on the team in a loss. it's just not how I roll.

C) you will earn my infernal eternal gratitude, which simply has to be good for something. oh, wait, I thought of something! when YOU have a petition (now that I have opened the floodgates on them), I will sign it, even if it's dumber than mine (not likely, but you have been challenged).

D) I don't have a D. I was trying to flesh this out, and make it appear meticulous, well thought out, and based on intelligence rather than the usual.

E) I refuse to play the age, mental feebosity, blind in one eye, or incontinence cards. however, if I had, this is where I would have played them.

please consider my petition favorably, as it would make an old, mentally feeble, blind in one eye and incontinent man happy. also, even if you are troll by nature and practice, this petition has something for you! consider, the #1 suggestion of trolls has been 'git gud.' WGs acceptance of this petition will help me do just that, when all else has failed. additionally, if you decide not to sign the petition, I will not hold it against you, and make special efforts to make your misguided life miserable based on yet another cruel, thoughtless, selfish, stupid, mean, heartless decision on your part.

no dolphins or otters were harmed while preparing this petition. no sagebrush, squaw-weed, or creosote bushes were trampled. chainsaw caught a spider, but I didn't see what he did with it.

(edit. note: I have a good feeling about this! actually anticipating the beginning of ranked battles this upcoming season. thank you in advance! :o)

Advice on the stats.....drop down to tiers 4 and 5 and spend a lot of time there. You'll learn the games finer points and become a much better player. Plus in my opinion, it's more fun.

WG singled me out for doing just exactly what you suggest when I was playing T5 by supernerfing the minekaze while I was in battle!! I have never forgiven them for it, but will if my petition is granted.

actually, it's a good suggestion, but I wanted to grind up to some T10 ships, have 2, and am getting close to the other 2 I simply must have. then I will drop back to the lower Tiers, figure out what I am doing wrong, and play for fun more than goals.

The following is not meant as a snarky or otherwise negative reply. Truly. From one player to another, my thoughts...

You have very few games in low and mid tier ships, brother. And while you have some mid-tier boats with decent win percentages, your average damage, etc. is generally well below server averages. It doesn't appear that you reached what I will call "proficiency" with any ship on the way to Tier X, which cripples you as a player, my friend. I understand the desire to acquire a Tier X boat or two, as that outwardly seems something of a "success," but it is a little hollow when you are not really sure what to do with it to win at least half your battles.

In reply to your proposal, I don't think that will ever happen here. I used to play a game not too dissimilar to WoWS that used what they called "Tournament Ships" for some competitions, in order to ensure that player skill was the prime determinant, rather than ship choice. And some time ago I tossed out a similar idea in another section of the forums for discussion. But in a game like this, where people hone skills very specific to nation, class, and even individual ships, that would cripple a lot of players that have worked very hard to "git gud" with various ships and ship types. And so I changed my mind about the idea.

In preparation for the upcoming ranked battles, my suggestion (take it for what it is worth, or toss it out with the uneaten crumbs from the sandwich you are eating) is to watch every Youtube video you can on "How to Farragut" and then play the Farragut as much as you can between now and the start of the ranked season, trying to implement what you learned from the videos. Your win percentage is very good in the Farragut over the 40 or so battles you have played. Just need to work on damage output and kills.

Respects,

Am

Edit to add: I would also suggest returning to Tier IV and playing a hundred battles in those ships, picking some that you are able to do reasonably well in, learning all you can from that tier, and then doing likewise up through the rest of the tiers. I believe you will find it very educational/helpful, particularly now that you have seen higher tiers.

Amracil, that was anything but a snarky troll post, I found it well thought out, and have tried several of the suggestions already. repurchased the Farragut and Bayern, got in a few random battles and learned a lot already. I make a lot of mistakes (easier to detect in T6 battles for sure) also tried the V-170 for some T4 play, but gag, I hate that pile o' poo.

it's obvious I have not really learned the fundamentals of the game yet, besides aiming. will probably focus on the Bayern more than the Farragut, the playstyle of the gunboat DDs makes me crazy.

the OP wasn't a proposal as much as a petition... made in jest. WG is never going to step aside from an income derived business structure, and letting me play in my kurfust in T6 ranked so I can romp all over the enemy team because I have sucked in 2k+ battles in random (and ranked) is not all that rational sounding, is it?

16 hours ago, 1SneakyDevil said:

OP what makes you think letting you chose any tier ship will result in better outcomes in ranked?

and finally, 1 sneaky devil...  and what makes you think a kurfust turned loose in a T6 ranked battle would not be a tad bit overpowered, even in the hands of a feeb? the 2ndaries alone would take out pretty much any T6 boat in short order, as long as they weren't playing a T6 island with nukes.

battle chat alone would be highly amusing. that alone would be worth the price of admission.

one of the thoughts that was going thru my head just before writing the OP was handicapping in golf. I think all but the most rabid players would probably admit a kurstwich or yammy in a T6 battle would be a pretty effective method of leveling the playing field for struggling players. the super-unicum players don't need them.

golf is a complex game, which I hate, but there are similarities between WoWs and golf. if you really study either game, work at all different facets and elements, learn the basics, fundamentals, relearn as you age, and then identify your weaknesses, turn them into strengths, repeat, you will get good/better at the game.

you can do the same here in WoWs. there is also the equivalent of very expensive clubs, driving ranges, putting greens (Co-Op, clans... so named because golf is a Scottish invention), books, videos, cheats, and of course this forum. every now and then I am in a battle with a super-unicum player that has found ways to use regular boats like they are 3-4 tiers higher than what the rest of us are playing with. kudos, respect, admiration, but with one exception, they were no fun to play with. all business.

for those of us with very full time jobs, GFs, are owned by demanding kitties like chainsaw, sometimes the will to work at this game, play with discipline and control with an eye on factors that help generate high stats, are simply not there. if you enter battle after a long butted day, or week, or work, want to blow off some frustrations, for amusement, light hearted play, often times this game in its current configuration is not going to work well for that.

at this point in my life, I am pretty focused on play, amusement, fun, stuff like that. if I can find a way to improve at WoWs and incorporate more fun and play in time spent in this game, I will. this petition is a way of doing that for me. while I can identify with your reluctance to sign the petition, think how much fun it would be to be on a T6 team with me in my kurfurst!! :o)

As far as returning to Tier IV and working your way back up to learn more, allow me to suggest the Clemson (there are a number of great "how to" videos like this one) as a gateway to better understanding and greater appreciation of gunboat DDs. My experience with the German DDs, at least through Tier V, is that they are just not very good. The T-22 is my least favorite boat. And I currently have 90 boats. I am told that from Tier VI on up the German DDs can be a lot more fun, but the grind to get there is harsh. Clemson to Nicholas to Farragut will teach a lot of DD gunboat fundamentals, imo, and can be a lot of fun as well. Especially now that you, as someone who has experienced higher tier play, can better appreciate the lessons to be learned. I found the Bayern fun to play but, in my own experience, she was either feast or famine depending on whether RNGesus was smiling on me in any given match. #dispersionheavenorhell

hi Am. for the most part, your comments are spot on. almost unfair :)

made it up to the Gaede, and sank it to grow coral.

Clemson was a 46 battle grind, and I only stayed in her long enough to get the XP for the Nicholas. once in the Nicholas, it was 60 something battles (at a 36% 'win' rate) for the Farragut. so I learned little if anything from either. am selling the V-170 for scrap, even though it's on sale, to punish WG... yeah, that will show them!!

am buying the Clemson now, will give it a try for a couple hundred or thousands of battles.

used full 2ndary build on the Bayern, and it worked surprisingly well. originally used aiming module, trying to get the guns more accurate, but we're talking about reducing a 275 meter spread down to 230 +/- and that's still bigger than a lot of ships in the game. it rarely seemed to work if you are shooting at anything over 12 km, it better be really big and slow. like an island. even then, most of your shots are going to miss. overpen is an issue if even tiered as well. between 8km and 12km things start to begin to look up, and 2ndaries kick in at 7.6, and the enemy citbowls are looking for islands to hide behind. how it will work in ranked remains to be seen. Farragut does have good smoke if it becomes a major thing again.

thanks!

And somehow I still see you getting repeatedly torped to death by the DDs since Ashan & Shinonome have 8 km torps and low 6 km detection range. Your 2ndary strategy goes flat right there.
