Ranked Battles

Ranked Battles is the principal competitive game mode of World of Warships, where every player, be it a newcomer or an experienced commander, will be able to find equal opponents. Join in the test, battle in the Seventh Season with Tier VI ships, and receive new rewards for participating in the Public Test of Update 0.6.7! By the way, those players who will achieve the League of Sea Wolves will be able to battle against decent rivals playing with Tier VIII ships.

The battle rules remain the same as in the Sixth Season of Ranked Battles:

  • Two teams consisting of 7 players fight against each other;
  • The total number of ranks is 23, out of which 10 are irrevocable, namely Ranks 23 to 17, 15, 12, and 1;
  • All ranks are grouped into four leagues. These are the Third League, the Second League, the First League, the Premier League. There is also the League of Sea Wolves for those who achieved Rank 1;
  • Players don't lose a star for a defeat in Ranks 23-20;
  • Team lineups are mirrored in terms of ship types and tiers;
  • The top experience earner in the defeated team does not lose a star.

Players will get a chance to receive pleasant rewards, such as sets of signal flags, and the unique commemorative flag for those participants who will reach Rank 15 of the Seventh Season. Those players who will not surrender and make their way into the Second League, will be rewarded with various types of camouflage. The brave ones who will break into Rank 1, will be able to raise the "Jolly Roger IV" flag!

It would definitely maintain the premier league population if Rank 5 was irrevocable, but it would also make achieving Rank 1 easier. Personally, I like how the system is set up currently.

It would definitely maintain the premier league population if Rank 5 was irrevocable, but it would also make achieving Rank 1 easier. Personally, I like how the system is set up currently.

 

I think the reprieve of an irrevocable rank at Rank 5 would be a plus and mitigate the grind. It might make achieving rank 1 a bit easier but a lot less frustrating.

I was hoping for an irrevocable rank between 12 and 1.  Like, 5 or sumfink

 

Thank god they are not doing this.Reaching rank 5 felt way too easy last season, last thing you want is a bunch of people that more or less got carried to rank 5 to be stuck there indefinitely [edited]up what I consider the best quality games publicly available (rank 5 to 1).

I agree with what M373x said. The main issue is learning how to play the premiere league. It can be frustrating to ping-pong between R5 and R6, but if a person hasn't learned how to play they will simply lower the quality of gameplay in the premiere league. A person who is good enough to deserve premiere league but doesn't have gameplay down (me last season) will not lose many games at R6, and you'll get many chances to drop into R5 and start earning stars. All you need to learn is to keep your ship alive at all costs and maintain a points advantage. That's how you win in premiere league, and if you and your team understand that concept, you really don't need an irrevocable rank.

My key metric is what are the rewards....I usually get to the First League, and then decide whether to proceed for the last 25 stars based on whether the rewards make it worth my while...

Making rank 5 a safe rank would only motivate players to endure the grind and maybe try to aim for the top leagues, increasing diversity and reducing queue times. And I wouldn't worry about a reduction on player skill, I'm pretty sure that the bad players that already play around rank 5 can't get any worse.

When the patch drops, I'm going to read all the rewards and then decide how much effort it is worth putting in to get them. If the last 10 ranks reward those damn upgrades, with the only good upgrades being in like ranks 4, 3, and 2, than they I'm stopping at 10.

I'm gonna try again.  Tier 6 should be... interesting...  Lot's of smoke.  I keep trying for Rank 1 and quit in frustration, make it to Rank 3?  Yeah here's a string of losses...  Although the top XP earner not losing a star really helped.

They should let Tier 5 play too since I don't have a tier 6.  Pod is a good ship

 

No, they did this before and it handicaps the team with the T5 ship while the other team has the all T6 ships.

Then get a T6 ship, jumping from tier 5 to tier 6 should take you 1 or 2 days even without premium time.

only had premium for 1 day and I just got this ship.  It will take a long time to get 38k XP.  Just let Tier 5 play

The team that gets stuck with you or anyone else in a tier 5 ship automatically is handicapped.  Either get the proper tier ship, or wait until the next season of ranked like I had to last season.

it's trash.

a gun reload worse than ijn dds and torps with 4km of range,it's not a gunboat and it's not a torpboat.

sure it's fast but so is emile bertin,better guns and better torps.

  • I never noticed those said "high quality" games the last time I reached rank 5, yes there are good games but they come up in the same frequency they come in random. Although I gave up on the mode 2 seasons ago. 

     

  • Diversity means more players. It's common to see people flaming at each other before the game even starts, people get queued together everytime and if someone played poorly in the last match it's a **** show.

     

  • Yes, we would, because they already start near the top. If my grind started at rank 5 or 7 I too would be motivated to play ranked for some rewards.

     

  • The nature of the system allows people who play well to be demoted and people who play poorly to be promoted, any issue with bad players in top positions will come from there and not from the safe ranks.

Even if it is, are the other tier 5 ships very good when compared to tier 6s?  Would you want to be stuck on the team that has 2 Emeralds, facing a team full of Clevelands, Bayerns, and Arizonas?
