I'm getting into german cruisers if for no reason than to advance the line...

Turning module or stealth module, what do you all prefer? I feel like the stealth of these ships is non existant so debating about going turning. That and this ship is visible while firing so i might as well maneuver better and angle better?

For all cruisers, greater stealth is the way to go. Lets you disengage easier or sneak up on other ships.

I go with Stealth, it just allows me to disengage when I find the battle to be disadvantageous. The Rudder shift, while being a bit slow, is still manageable.

As much as I love concealment, the double rudder seems to be far superior on Hindenburg as the ship does not handle well enough for me without it.

Yeah this is the big question for cruisers. I generally use the concealment module over the turning one. It is much nicer being able to stay hidden for just a wee bit longer. The only CA I know I have the turning module on is the Graf Spee. Without it she doesn't feel "cruisery" enough for me. I also put a speed flag on her as well every time I play. She feels right with both of those things.

I'd go with rudder mod.  With German CAs you're generally sniping close to your max range so it's not difficult at all to disengage, and the rudder mod makes it that much harder for people to hit you cleanly at those ranges.

I tend to agree here.  In the lower tiers, because of their general smaller size and lighter weight,  their nimble movement is already there so maybe not so much steering mod. But starting at the Yorck and up, steering mod definitely on these ships.  I then try to get to a 10pt captain quickly so i can get CE at level 4. Then you set pretty well.

Hey

On my Hipper i have the concealment mod and concealment on the capt. but on my Prinz Eugen I have the double steering gears without concealment.  I like both but I prefer the dodging and weaving I can do with the rudder mod once detected, But I also like I can be sneakier with the concealment.  On these ships I prefer the rudder mod.  My Japanese cruisers I run the stealth build because their detection range is better than the Germans.  The new buff for the HE on the Germans has made them much better, still not Japanese fire starters but certainly better.  Priority Target for me is a must skill on any cruiser as it has saved my butt many times.

I use both rudder mods on the Eugen and Hindenberg. The concealment isnt that big of a deal really since no one can hit you anyway. Its a really fun playstyle and I think the rudder mods give you more survivability than stealth while allowing you to constantly fire your guns.

Those that play Khaba know what im talking about.

I've gone back and forth on rudder versus stealth over 137 Hindenburg battles, and I still don't know which I prefer. If I take stealth, Hindenburg feels a little piggish, and is still not all that stealthy. If I take rudder, Hindenburg's handling problems are solved, but her concealment is a joke.

Overall, I think I prefer rudder. I wish it was more like the decision between range or rate-of-fire: Hindenburg feels good with either one. When it comes to rudder-vs-stealth, Hindenburg always feels just a tiny bit lacking no matter what I choose.

(Arguably, that's an indication that she's well-balanced.)

Back when concealment was a 15 point Captain, I ran Hipper with double rudder because the horrible concealment with just the module was a nonstarter. The six second rudder was pretty cool...

I run Hindenburg with concealment simply to ensure that anything capable of detecting me is too close to reveal their position without being punished.  Better handling would be nice, it would certainly help when it's time turn hard when your positioning is bad. Being un-detected with better positioning is more useful for both survivability and offense even if I don't always get it right. At this tier, a six second rudder won't save you within 14 km of anything you cannot tank.

I play my Hinde with the following build;

Main Armaments Mod 1, Aiming System Mod 1, Main Battery Mod 3, Damage Control System Mod 1, Steering Gears  Mod 2, Concealment System Mod 1

For Commander Skills I only have a 12 point captain, but I selected;

Priority Target, Expert Marksmen, Adrenaline Rush, Demolition Expert, and Concealment Expert.

I run Defensive Fire vice Hydro...it has been extremely beneficial.

With this load out I am averaging over 130k a game damage wise and have more choices on when I want to engage and disengage the enemy.  However, the steering gears route as M373X pointed out above, is just as viable, especially if you chose the longer range battery modification, you just have to be sure to be pressing A/D/W/S a bit more often.
