I always liked the way Atago looks, and I never really liked the green they used for tier 10 premium camouflage.

So, I repainted my Yamato and Zao, wish they had these available as alternative permanent camouflage, as reward for missions or whatever.

That Zao looks fantastic.  Would pay a few thousand doubloons for it.  :)

Very nice job.

What you see on those screenshots is the in-game permanent camouflage for Yamato and Zao that use in-game colors for Atago.  I only swapped the camo texture on Zao turrets to texture Atago uses, because Atago colors look off on default Zao permanent camo turret textures.  So everything is pretty much factory made, I just did a little swapping.  That's why it's as native as it gets, and looks right.  Now, in order to put these in game, wargaming needs to spend literally a couple of hours, if they wanted to.

Hey Veksha, I really like that Yamato camouflage mod. Any chance you might want to share it? :Smile_Default: I sadly don't have the tools (or knowledge) to extract the files and change the colour. Thanks!

It's not a mod, I modified the file manually...  I could make the file for you (it's just one .XML file really), but then I would have to keep updating it every patch.  If you learn how to do it, you can do it yourself in less than 5 minutes whenever patch is released.  I can take the time to type up a little DIY instructions later on today...

Ok here goes:

First of all you have to modify at existing camouflage.  I made changes to permanent camouflage for Yamato, if you don't have it - that is totally fine, you can grab any other camo your Yamato is using, and copy the permanent camouflage block to replace whatever your Yamato is using now.  If you have permanent camo, just follow instructions below.

Step1: get wargaming tool to unpack their game files from this location: https://share.wargaming.net/d/b8640e6aac/

Step2: launch wows_unpacker_gui.exe and unpack camouflages.xml file
https://imgur.com/a/gri2o

Unpack button will drop the file in the folder specified under Settings, usually \World_of_Warships\res_unpack folder

Copy camouflages.xml to latest res_mod folder, currently \res_mods\0.6.9.0, so you have file as follows \res_mods\0.6.9.0\camouflages.xml

Step3: Open the file and find "IJN UNIQUE Atago colour scheme" setting and duplicate it as follows:

Note that I swapped Color2 and Color3 in the copied code.

Step4: Find Yamato permanent camouflage section, and apply the new colour scheme:

After you restart your game, new camo should show up.

Thanks :Smile_Default: Sadly I didn't get it to work. I found a 0.6.9 camouflages.xml in another modding thread (because I have Mac where the unpack tool doesn't work, silly I know haha), and followed your steps closely to make sure all formattings are correct, but my Yamato just comes up with an invisible camo (I do have the Type 20 permanent camo). I guess maybe the Mac wrapper just isn't capable of handling modified camouflage files, or if I made a mistake that I just can't figure out. I'll give it a try some time again. Still, thanks a lot! :Smile_honoring:

You're the best, it works!  I'll take a closer look later to see what mistake I did when I tried. Thanks a lot, my Yamato looks better than ever!

You are welcome, glad I could help.  Keep in mind, it's not just your Yamato.  As long as you have those modifications in camouflages.xml, any Yamato and Zao using permanent camouflage will render in Atago color theme.
