Meh. Given the way maps are being made thus far, it'd probably end up being an abortion like the Solomons map which bears no resembence to Iron Bottom Sound off Guadalcanal.

I'm sorta envisioning a map where both sides spawn on either side of the strait (one in Atlantic, the other in the Mediterranean), with the fight mainly happening in the channel area.  May not be much fun for snipers, but brawlers would definitely love it.

The 'Strait of Gibralter' is approx.15 km wide at it's narrowest point being much wider at either end.

The South shore is basically approx 60 km trending from the W end cape very slightly to the ESE to another cape at the E end.

The North shore is a very shallow 'v' shape of two segments, from the NW end trending ESE approx. 20 km then trending ENE approx. 25 km to Gibralter Rock & port.

Spawns would be where Doc McDerp suggests.

This map idea would suit both snipers & brawlers, imho, as well as being OK for all ship classes.

Your idea is a great one, cerealmonster & sq km area-wise, Strait of Gibralter would be a good fit. +1 for you (first one again, lol).

This could make it a compromise for a replacement for ocean.

Ocean does not need to be replaced. It needs to be restored to the lower tier rotation.

As for Gibraltar, I seem to recall suggesting it back before Alpha. So I'm in favor of the idea. Back in the day someone said that they weren't going to use real places for maps but if Gibraltar isn't in the public domain, I'll eat my breton.

I also don't think that Ocean needs to be replaced.  I think that it's the best map in the game and wish that there were more maps like it. Yes, obviously they'd have some terrain. But it's not necessary to have every map littered with tall, mountainous islands.  How about some maps with a few low, flat atolls for islands that are easy to shoot over except perhaps at close range?

Edit: How can any portrayal of a geographical location not be in the public domain?

Wow! Love this idea! I'll let our team see your ideas for this :) Are there any other historical locations you think would make for cool maps?
