Iowa, Edinburgh or Fletcher?

I know it sounds like an odd question, but given the credits it costs to upgrade at this level, I'm debating which one is next. I love my NC, Fiji and Benson, and will surely keep them, at least for a while. I have enough USN captains, that I will even be able to keep the NC & Benson going. I only have 1 good UK captain, so the Fiji would wind up sitting. I also have, and have actually been enjoying more, the Belfast. Just can't decide which one to spend my credits on... I have searched the forums on all, and read mixed reviews on each upgrade...

Fletcher or Edinburgh IMO....

But then again, I almost exclusively play DDs or cruisers, so YMMV.

Iowa or the Fletcher.  The Eddy is not that much of a upgrade from the Fiji.  I think the Fiji is slightly better for her tier.  It depends on how you feel about the NC,  I have been told the Fletch is a huge improvement over the Benson.  I personally enjoy the Iowa/Mo boats.

What he said, re Fletcher.  I feel like the Fletcher does just fine when going up against Tier X DDs, to the point where I'm not concerned about grinding to the Gearing and instead focus my resources on other lines.

I also feel like Fiji > Edinburgh, but really it depends on what you want to play most.

But the other two are pretty notable upgrades. If you really want to feel like you're stepping into a more capable ship... well, at least avoid Edinburgh.

I can say I have enjoyed the Fiji *far* more than the Edinburgh, but that likely has more to do with a lack of battles in the Edinburgh + my underrated ability to get up-tiered at Tier VIII.

I don't know about Iowa, but if it were between Fletcher and Edinburgh, I would suggest Fletcher. I like the Edi, but it gets up-tiered a lot. Fletcher is far more capable.

If you are enjoying Belfast, consider that Edinburgh is basically the same ship, but one tier higher, without radar or HE shells, but with the UK AP shells.  (Of course some performance specs might differ, like turret rotation, rate of fire, etc., I haven't researched it that closely).

Never had any problems in the Edinburgh. It really depends on your tastes. I'm not much into the current high tier DD meta. I prefer to live until the end of the battle.

I will say that I have no issues getting uptiered in British cruisers. I often div my Neptune with divmate's T10s.

What are you best at currently? That would be my decision.

OP, have you thought about which Tier X that you want to get to first? That may help drive your decision. As for myself, I think the Fiji is a keeper but I sold my Edinburgh when I got the Neptune. Fletcher is also a keeper. I like my Gearing but the Fletcher is special. As for my US BB's, I didn't keep any of them once I got the Missouri. Good luck!

imo the Fiji is better for it's tier than the Edinburgh.  I didn't like the Iowa compared to the NC but I have not tried it now that WG has "fixed" somewhat it's citadel issue.

So I would strongly support the Fletcher as other posters have said.  I think it is the best DD for it's tier and a lot of fun to play since it can be made into an excellent torp ship with good guns to protect itself.  It's hard to beat 5.8km concealment with 10 fairly high speed/high damage and fairly low visibility torps that go 10.5 km and that you can reload every 81 seconds.  It's a really good DD.

Fletcher hands down, if you enjoy DD play. I have an Iowa, but play Missouri for the credit income. Assuming Iowa is similar in play, then I would recommend it as well.

As for Edinburgh, I have it researched but not purchased. Having played against them enough, they are a little better than Fiji but will be bottom tier often (I see quite a few in T10 matches).

Best of luck with whichever you choose but consider this:

Fletcher to Gearing is meh

Iowa to Montana is good (based on playing against them)

Edinburgh to Neptune and Minotaur is wow (again based on playing against them.

A well driven Neptune and Minotaur is a terror, imho.

Ymmv

I'd take the Fletcher. She'll feel fragile due to her low hp with the A hull, but once you have her upgraded it will feel like a Benson on steroids.

I play BBs, cruisers, and DDs about the same amount (never play CVs), and enjoy all three types of gameplay. Stats wise, I do best in BBs. The NC is one of the best ships I have, with a 58%WR, 62.5k avg dmg, and my highest ever dmg of 179k. I suppose maybe that's a sign that I should do the Iowa... I've just heard from some that it's not as good as the NC.  Any opinions since they've lowered the citadel?

If you do go with Fletcher, use the SE capt skill. The extra HP can go a long way...

In regards to the Iowa/Mo you have a larger turn radius that you need to take into account.  The Citadel situation is about the same as the as the NC.  You show a full broadside you are going to get hurt pure and simple.  If you are good at angling the NC you will adjust fine to the Iowa class ships.  Just remember more boat bigger turn radius, doesn't slow down as fast at the NC.  Also they are faster than the NC.  So if you enjoy NC you will will more than likely enjoy the Iowa/Mo, then move up to the Monty.  Enjoy which ever you choose!

After watching a couple videos, I think it's gonna be the Fletcher. That thing just looks like so much fun!

fletch is fantastic.  iowa is nice, especially after its latest buff.  i cant speak of the edin.  i didn't bother going to it, due to how often tier 8 gets dragged into tier 10.  i just stayed with my fiji.

personally the fletch is my choice for best ship of the 3, even if the Iowa holds a special place in my heart.

See it this way,

base you choice like this,

What ship did you like the most/did good with playing and take the one that follows on that line, all 3 lines have great ships at the following tier.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with any of the three. That said, like most, I'd go Fletcher, Iowa, Edinburgh. I've had the Iowa forever, but just recently got the Fletcher. I'm not a DD guy as I probably only play one DD game for every five in a cruiser or BB. But, the Fletcher is pretty special. I wish I woulda focused on getting it before expending the effort i have on other lines.
