Baltimore and Des Moines could use further armor increase in the bow

Our close range brawler cruisers which cant really angle to reduce damage.  

 

The one thing i find happens constantly is getting citidel right through the nose through the Athwartship, which on the Baltimore is split in 2 6mm of armor.  Random scrub BB's with 406 380mm guns can virtually delete this ship when its perfectly angled or even slightly angled.  The Des Moines has this problem too only its upper Athwartship which stretches the entire length of the bow has only  6mm.  The only other Crusier T9 or higher that has this problem is the Ibuki.  All the other Cruisers T9 or above all have increased armor values in the bow allowing the ship to bounce or take reduced damage when angled.  

 

I feel both the Baltimore and the Des Moines could use an even greater armor buff to these areas to allow them to be aggressive in the later portions of the game and actually angle and not get blown outta the water.

no, cruisers should not be able to bow tank a BB, are you crazy. DM is already one of the best cruisers in what it can do, it just takes a better player to utilize them unlike the long range he spam of zao for example.

They actually decent cruisers now tbh, they do not need armor buffs from what I can see through you can bounce shells from a Bismark and Tirpitz when you're angle bow in to them. Sure they're cruisers with nothing fancy to them but they are feared by many especially DD due to their Radar.

midsection casemate armor to 30mm would be nice.

 

none of the other cruisers have more than 27mm bow armor.

It would be nice if you could angle, not bow tank, 420mm shells.

I'd rather not make her immune to anything she's pointed her bow at.

Just give her 30mm casemates like the Zao, Henry, Moskva and Hindenburg.

They recently gave her a 30mm deck and I don't see why she shouldn't get the casemates as well.

You can angle against BBs in cruisers, but from what at you sad, you are doing it wrong, you do not go bow on unless the BB shooting at you has 381mm guns or less with the 27mm of bow armor on the Baltimore, DM, or T8+ German cruisers, any bigger than that will go straight to your citadel... what you have to do is angle so the shells hit your angled belt armor, I have bounced Yamato shells in my Atago by doing that. There is a drawback to this, if the enemy BB does know how to aim, he can do some damage to aiming at your bow, you won't get citadel at least.

it's basically why DM is forced to hump islands or division with a Gearing/Fletcher that can provide it smoke.

I don't think they need stronger bow armor than usual. Being able to bow-tank 406/410 is too much of a buff.

 

What I want to see is either concealment or rudder shift buff. Those are useful tools for cruisers to survive.

DM and Baltimore don't need anything. They are already some of the best cruisers on the game, any buff would just make them OP IMO. Also, if there weren't 5 BBs per team every game, they would be OP already.

Deck to 30mm.  Then call it good.

 

That puts it on par with the weakest other T10 CA.  It also means the deck isn't lolpenned by 16" shells.
