Hillarious Colorado match.

Just to post something positive around here,

I just had the funniest experience in my Colorado.   Haven map, Domination, 4 BB's; 4 CL's each.  We spawned North, with me and a Nurnberg on the extreme Western flank.   We and the center group headed towards the West cap.   Nurn apparently got lost in his scope, because he first rammed me- forcing me to turn away from the gap and nearly hit the big island- then nearly broadsided our cartoon Kongo when he turned away from me.

It turned out to be fortuitous.

The red Kirov had sneaked up around the outside of the ring, and appeared right in front of me!   My guns were all facing away, and I had to dodge his torpedoes, but my secondaries just RIPPED into him.  Seriously- I'd never seen Colorado's secondaries be this effective!   At the same time, they ripped into the Kongo behind him so badly, it turned away!   By the time I got my guns turned around and on Kirov, it was basically over- he had a sliver of health left, and a single shot took him out.  11,000+ points of damage and 2 fires in a few seconds- from a Colorado's secondaries!!!

I went on to drop the red Kongo with a citadel, citadelled the red Colorado, and gouged a big chunk of it's health before my allies killed him.

Been like this all day.  I've been grinding Pensacola, and averaged about 9 citadels per game, lol.  Just before this match, I did 33k+ to a bismarck before he finally managed to sink me.  This friggin ship is evil, if you can survive the first contact with the enemy.  Downs silly numbers of planes, too.  New Orleans is just a couple of good matches away- I hope it's this much fun to play!

Currently 60% WR in Colorado, love the heck out of how it seriously hammers any cruiser it can catch broadside, and a lot of battleships besides.

Pensacola I like as well, though my WR isn't as high.

Wait..so this is the week we like the Colorado? I'm confused.

:)

PS. I like the Colorado too. I got my first 2 Krakens in her and was called an aimbot hacker during the 2nd one. It was the first sign I might have figured out a little about the game. :B

Yeah, all the Colorado SUX threads that pop up tend to leave me scratching my head...   Granted it isn't a zippy Nagato, or a troll armored, torp chargin'  Gneisenau, but it is far from being crap.   It just has it's own way of doing things.

Having the experience- and patience- to deal with the crotchety dispersion on the 2 gun US BB turrets definitely helps.

I never played the Colorado, saved all my hard earned free Xp to get through her.

That was years ago when she was the worst ship in the game.

She any good now?

Started in Colorado last summer, (fully upgraded via fxp, and after already having a lot of experience using Warspite and New Mexico,) put a ZERO point captain in it on a dare, and have been doing just fine in it so far. (60% WR,) Yeah, she can get whacked occasionally, but I think she tanks well, passibly pummels with secondaries, her guns hammer hard, and woe betide the cruiser she catches broadside...

...but that may just be me...

I like it for it's good mix of everything- hard hitting mains, lots of secondaries, plenty of AA, good maneuverability, and decent armor.   The only real drawback is the slow speed at a tier where everything is faster, and where the meta is to stay as far away from the enemy as possible.  I still do better in it than in my other US BB's in pvp games.   Wonky dispersion always comes with 2 gun turrets- they love to split or go 1 hi, 1 low.

It's seen some buffs since the bad old days.
