Staying at Tier VI?

So with operations only being for Tier V & VI, is anyone else planning on leaving their best captain in a Tier VI ship?  I TOTALLY do.  My only regret is that my best CV driver is in my USN CV, and my IJN Captain is WAY behind.  I can't wait until I can unleash a Strike Ryujo with a Level 11 Captain.

No, because I don't particularly care for T6 or any of the ships in it. I'd rather see two tiers of operations... 7/8 and 9/10.

Wouldn't hurt to leave a good captain on a T6 ship especially since Ranked is expected to be T6. I've been dusting off a few T6 tech tree ships in preparation for ranked.

Yep, I am considering moving my best captains to Tier 6, why not!  I enjoy the operations battles more than PvP because you don't have a bunch of whiners posting all the time!

I'm holding to see what tier ranked will be, but I keep a 19pt in my Kami.

I haven't tried operations yet, but I figure the Kami would do well with fast torp reload.

I have 15 ships in my port (not counting Mikasa as I only play her in co-op or the ARP ships) and all but one has a commander (Tirpitz shares the Bismarck commander)  . They range from tier 1 to 10 and only 4 of them do not have a 19 skill point commander in them and I am working on those 4 ( two are at 12 points , two are at 16 points) plus a 19 skill point commander (RN) in my reserve . To explain a bit ; I am not really a collector of ships but of tech tree's ( I have all the tech tree lines research to elite status of every ship ) . I am also sitting on 226+ million credits so I could buy almost 11 tier 10 ships (or lower) anytime I want or need to  .

Geez, where the HELL do you guys get all these Level 19 captains?

My highest captain is Level 11.  He's in the highest tier CV I have unlocked, and his ship is flying every +XP and +Captain XP flag & camo I have.  I specifically DON'T use any +XP or +Captain XP flag or camo on any of my other ships.  I save them ALL for this captain.

And it's taking FOREVER to level him!

Yeah, great idea, lets lock a third of the playerbase out of Operations.  There are lots of players that haven't progressed trees beyond Tier VI.  That's about where the time investment starts getting too large for casual players.

Now I expect that eventually they'll add a higher level operations queue as kind of an 'end-game content' solution.  Maybe sooner rather than later.  But it shouldn't be exclusive to high-tier players.

Vanilla WoW

Leveling took FOREVER, and at times end game content took 30-45 players.  Casuals were screwed out of end game content for a game they paid by the month to play.

And people look back at vanilla WoW as "the good old days."

If it goes t6 i got two 19 pt german bb commanders who will take a spin in the Spee and/or Nurnberg... I'm hoping the Spee will do well enough.

But playing carrier in the OpsMode - at least now - is quite challenging because it is a small space, imho.

Nah; only if I make a mistake and accidentally hit Battle when my port is set for Randoms. Otherwise I just use him in Co-op to avoid such accusations. (Admittedly; I did just that recently on Strait; and a Stock loadout Bogue and I made things pretty miserable for the Reds...)

However; if you mean I'm a bot clubber? I'll accept that as a compliment. Love using Air Supremacy to murder bot air squads, then go about the business of beating up bot ships uninteruppted by cheating bot air squads magically flying straight to my unspotted carrier.

I just got my ryujo Captain to 10 points for ranked, I imagine that will suffice should I want to do operations.

Because back in the day, you played MMOs from level 1-max. You didn't get to max level and THEN begin playing the game. Yes Vanilla WOW had it's problems. But it did things for the audience that simply doesn't happen in modern WOW. That's why most of us old Vanilla/BC players have moved onto other games.

19 pointers in ships like the Khab and Gearing with premium paint generate lots of elite command xp, and the Khab is like a seal-clubber at T10. That helped me start CVs with 14 points capt.

Or private servers.

Also most of the old timers realize that a lot of WoW improved over the years,  at least until a certain point.  Vanilla is just the...focal point for the memories.  The most intense ones for people who started back then.

You uh...you never played MMO's back in the day, huh?  That's not criticism, just an observation.  In comparison to the other MMO's out at the time,  WoW's leveling was relatively fast and painless.  The raids needed fewer people,  the preparations took less time,  and in comparison to modern day MMO's,  the raiding WAS the content people paid for.  Casual's back then were far different from casuals now days.  Back then casuals did Zul Gurub.  They had options for raids and such and the general goal for the majority of the playerbase were those end game activities.

Then again I'd say the 'casuals' from back then would be seen as hardcore now days.  *Shrugs*  Times have changed.

Also side note,  Vanilla was never the good old days for me.  I played a holy paladin and a beastmaster hunter,  neither of which got much love.  The only thing golden about those days were the interactions I had with people and the ease of slipping into the game.  Up to Wrath the game mostly improved.  And then...came the dark times...

Quite specifically I remember when WOW came out and all my friends who had never been into MMOs before suddenly were into it.
The biggest thing I noticed right off about WOW, was it was very "fast" with precious little downtime between fights. Even passively, outside of combat, health and mana regen even at max level was ludicrously fast compared to other games.
Other MMOs, between fights there was downtimes on order of 5-10 minutes to recover health and mana (because potions were expensive or rare and only used in emergencies or saved for PVP). So you'd fight a bit, then sit around shooting the breeze. Wow on the other hand was all go, no slowing down now.

Don't get me started on the weak [edited]death penalties. WOW players back in Vanilla used to do some of the dumbest stuff. (Probably now too) Playing prot pally. So we just killed a couple groups, healer's on low mana, asks group to hold up... What's this? Some hunter pulling and then whiningwhen the healer OOMs and the party wipes. Like we've ruined his day or something, god forbid we've got to spend a minute or so walking back. Compared to other games where dying lost what could have been hours-days worth of xp grinding, actual equipment (not just durability), money, AND the time to walk back. Heavens forbid if they had lost a battleship in Eve back at that time. Hell even now a fully equipped ship set up for PVE lost might be the equivalent of several months worth of grinding income. Lost in the course of a minute because you forgot to fit the right tanking gear for the mission or site.

And leveling. Hell I hit 60 in 2 months in Vanilla WOW while actively playing a couple other games (EVE/Ragnarok Online) and having all my schoolwork. Other games, 3-6 months was more reasonable time frame for max level even with a serious nolifer. And these days? I honestly think that I could gather up a few friends, and the 5 of us could be max level in a solid couple days without paying any fees, using heirloom gear, or abusing the boosts from inviting friends (Could probably do it in hours if doing all that).

For cost of a cheap Latte you can move your best captain to the Tier 6 ship of your choice. Go for it!  Although Steven will be driving Arizona if he appears in Ranked for me.

There is an interesting aspect to getting a 19-point captain: it becomes easier to level up other captains quickly. My 19-point Izyaslav captain can run in Okhotnik, Gremyaschy, Leningrad and Murmansk and collect the daily XP bonus from each. It adds up fast and lets me decide which ship to focus on for captain's skills.

My headache with the Arizona is that she's too slow to react to a fluid situation. I find the Mutsu to be a better fit for my play style. Segal in a Cleveland works pretty well.

I have moved past T6 except for a few 'keepers'.

Whatever skill Cpt I have, on the T6s that I have, will remain there.

Two mid range skill pt Cpts & one low skill pt Cpt (GL for him, lol).
