Sound delay after destroying a ship

Anyone else noticing the delay between the ship destruction sound and when you've actually caused the damage and received the kill ribbon?  It's only about a second and a half, but it's been throwing me off.  Trying to get used to it.  I am not using Ultra sounds yet.

It's in the patch notes as "the further away you are the longer the sound takes to travel" or something... the fact that the sound of the ribbon popping up is delayed is absurd imo.

yeah this is also unsettling for my OCD.  I missed the old way.  I hope WG fixes it soon.

It is a nice addition, but I don't think they implemented it correctly.

The ribbon and kill sound bite should come immediately.

 

Then you should hear the ship exploding as a separate sfx.

A ridiculous attempt to introduce a touch of realism into a completely fictional environment.

The distances in-game are compressed - they are scaled down. Yet they think that the sound is going to take longer to travel across those distances, for crying out loud!

Sometimes I wonder what they are doing in that development team.

I would hazard a guess that it's more to do with the change to torpedo release than to realism. The problem before was that the audio was triggered and had to complete before torpedoes could release. They seem to have fixed this by having torpedoes release and then have the sound trigger.

Oh wow I only played the new op over the week and just thought it was an issue with that! I've have to get back into randoms today and see. Interesting change if it depends on distance!
