Idk how I managed it but dodged a 3 torp, 2 DB drop with my Farragut today. Reading the chat after was hilarious on both ends.

Out of curiosity, has anyone found a reliable way of avoiding DB drops?

My usual method in a DD is to kick the rudder to the side as hard and quickly as possible and jam the props into full reverse, which makes a nice juke, but I don't know if that actually hurts their drop it not... It seems to work, but that could just be anecdotal.

A week or two ago I had two CVs send a total of 3 torp squads after me simultaneously in my Omaha, managed to only get hit by one of the torps

Basically I find it best to turn towards as they approach, and then cut power and turn hard away as they drop. This normally gives you a good 90° angle against the drop.

Yup I was just amazed that I received 0 damage from 5 squads.

I had a Lexington Alpha strike me 3 times in a Sims game without killing me in a DD almost but not quite

Funny thing is we won the game because of it even though I didn't do crap but Dodge wave after wave but I kept him busy LOL

I expect whether or not you get obliterated by CV cross drop has a lot more to do with the CV than it does your dodge strategy.

When it comes down to it you can A) turn right B) turn left C) go straight.  Add in 'slow down' and that multiplies to almost six different things you can do, none of which look that much different than the others.

I do the same thing , it seems to work sometimes,I also use it to avoid collisions and that works great

I agree, but they were asking about dodging Dive Bombers, which can be done reliably to some extent.

dive bombers are so random that sometimes they hit all the bombs and most of the time they miss it completely.

For dodging DBS, I'm guessing we're talking ijn manual drops? Auto drops are pure RNG, and the usn manual drop circle is still pretty big, so odds are it will still be over you. What gives me the most trouble is when I have to approach head on, and they accelerate at the very end. There's the smallest window to readjust, and you cut the window at the very end. But ideally, if you could have the DBS drop from a side approach, you'll have the best chance.
