I got this French girl yesterday, and here is my third game: Edit: Suck it photobucket! A lot of people say that she is the sweet spot in the line.. Not sure yet, but I doing pretty good so far.. Guns shoot far and accurate and she can weave and dodge around almost all enemy fire. /^_\\ When I finished grinding the 1st French Heavy Cruiser, she came 1st or 2nd in WR, average damage, average exp and survival rate out of all the tier 7 cruisers I played, through thats only from 36 battles... If you're top tier well you can pretty much put your ship between the 1st and second line and shoot target while kitting away and if you're bottom tier, you just use Island to your advantage and lob shells. You still have those weird french guns but 203mm still 203mm and you will do fine as long as you know where to aim. i really enjoyed the Algerie but the Charle Martel is even more enjoyable. With those 2x3 203mm guns at the front you can just show your nose and harass people while keeping the rest of your ship behind your island. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

As a masochist who really wants his Prinz Eugen to be a capable cruiser and plays it more than I should (because it is probably the weakest T8 cruiser but it's so beautiful I can't say no :)), Algérie actually feels like a dream, like a Hipper at T7 with useful long-ranged torps and a slightly faster reload as well, better HE, and still competent AP. I admit to being a bit envious of what France got at T7. It's the mid-tier heavy cruiser play that I've been looking for all along and never found anywhere else. Thanks! Yep! It seemed to make sense on a HE slinging boat like these are. That citadel was on a RN CL...with HE. Accurate guns with a fast reload for 8", plus decent survivability and maneuverability. Her AP is rather meh, but the HE makes up for it. I had heard that Algerie wasn't any better than La Gal. No upgrades yet, she has to earn the XP for upgrades, the XP free is for a better ship someday. No doubt it's a better ship than the La Gal, even without the upgrades. What I like about the French line are the guns and they just keep getting better making the ships more fun as we go up the line. I loved playing the La Gal but most of the time it was a suicide mission the way I played her but she could weaken a few ships on the way out and take one with her usually. Capable of taking on BBs and that was fun, suicide but fun. Beat the Bayern in close range combat with her, mostly with guns but finished her with torps and this ship is better. I do like her, she is a solid middle of the road cruiser. Not really exceptional in any area but solid nonetheless. More games with sub 10K damage than the other French cruisers (even more than the La Gal - I think). This is my best game though... Rudder/engine seems to go out more and I certainly get focused more than the other cruisers.
