What happens if a carrier never finds a another carrier in a random battle?

So i'm playing though the carrier line for the class mission, and am curious what happened in random battle if mm is unable to find a same tier carrier for me to face? does it go past the 5 minute mm que? or does it place me solo?

You sit in the queue for however long it takes for another same tier CV to click battle.

The 5 minute limit doesn't apply to CVs. So, yes, at times when CV population is especially low, at very high tiers during off peak hours without any missions to ecnourage CV play for example, you can queue for 30 minutes or longer and never find a battle.

Yeah seems I have seen screenshots with a carrier in queue for long periods of time posted in the forums now that you mention that.

The good news is that while you sit in thee queue, the rest of us can enjoy CV free games ;-).

You'll wait.. and MM will give you a match the VERY SECOND it finds another CV.

 

This is regardless of almost every other MM rule, so you can have a 1v1 CV battle, or a 3v3.  Generally you nor anybody else doesn't want this and should leave before the timer hits 5 mins.

PSA: do not let the queue run past 5 minutes. Just exit and start again before that happens. This will prevent matches less than 12v12 from happening.
