I'm just curious, has anyone had an even remotely close attempt with a random group to even get close to possibly finishing the weekly opperation?  With a clan, sure I can see these being fun, but so far with randoms it's just one big sloppy failure of a game mode.  This has been my experience, yours may be different.  Let me know!

one time i got the dream team at random,we finished the objectives with only 1 ship lost.

it's the best i could find at random,clans might solo it easily.

Same here. The one time that the team I was on in random that we did win, no stars. I gave up on this mode early on. IMHO this really is a more of a clan challenge, not that I mind, it just doesn't seem to fit random play.

Done it twice with 4 stars (but only got one Hashidate captain), and 5-6 times with one or two stars. Probably failed 8-10 times. :honoring:

I gave up on this mode early on. I also was in a random game where we finally on a match, and no stars. IMHO the is really more of a clan challenge, not that I mind. It just doesn't seem to fit the current random play style. Without team communication and or coordination, this is just a crap shoot of a mode.

Once with a div-mate - 4 stars. Once solo - 3 stars.

 

They took my suggestion to randomize the ship start locations. Need to make it harder.

I won first try, 5 stars. Did it one more time, 4 stars. I guess it just depends on the team and the ships they use.

Got 2 stars with random teams in 3 games, and stopped it right there due to cost. This is an expensive mode to play in credit-wise, and I would advise all players not to use premium consumables and flags in this game mode, playing bots. If you are using standard consumables, captain's Superintendent Skill is a must just to get the extra consumable. Tech tree ships are at a credit disadvantage in this mode, which favors premium ships. It will be a while before I come back to this mode, because with random teams everbody ignores communication and co-ordination. Use of cover and/or smoke is an absolute must in this mode, and you have to team up or the bots will grind you down, usually in the third wave when the higher tier ships show up and you are already carrying a health point loss. Before I play this mode again I will let the dust settle as I don't have the time for clan or divisional play in any mode as I play at odd hours

Tried it about 6 times with Bayern Leander and Buyony and just got 1 star in a few and also some victories with no stars.

Try 7 I must have been with a good team, a CV and Anshan, 2 BB and 3 CL (me and another Budy and a Cleveland)

I was low scorer and sunk on 3rd wave (defending the Lexington coming from the NE) but we got the win and 5 stars.

All pick up solo battles.

I've finished it 6 times now with 5 stars. I keep doing it to help my friends complete it. I'm with a group of 3 that can pretty much carry any other 4 as long as they don't bring a dd.

Oddly I received the captain after a 3 star win.  I have had 4 stars five or more times, all complete randoms, each time one ship dies right at the end to take our 5th star away. There is always an exception but to me, this scenario is a simply a dps  race while positioning yourself in the right places. If you aren't bringing at least 100k damage to the match, you may want to change your ship. Cleveland has been my top performer by far and the additional AA is a great help. Averaging 150k and my last game was over 200k in it.

I spoke with a friend that was struggling with the scenario and asked what his damage totals were, and he said around 70k as he was playing dd and BB, he isn't a crusiser player but does have the Molotov and he immediately started doing over 100k damage.

 

I love the alternative choices to game modes, keep it up WG, the more, the more better!

Can't remember the team composition, I know we had at least 2 Clevelands and an Arizona

I think I have won more than lost...  Certainly no worse that 50/50, but I haven't looked at the stats.

And overextending seems to be a big issue, especially for DD, since bot aim seems more accurate than human aim, at least to me. The objective to "defend" seems lost on a lot of players.

I played all my OPs missions solo, got up to 4 stars once, 3 once, several 1 star games and several losses. I kind of lost track but think I played maybe 10 times. Once I had the IJN captain, I was happy, the 24 hours of premium was not worth the aggravation of the mission. Just too much going on for my tastes.

This mode is a fail. Wargaming expects players to win in a mode that requires following an objective? They should already have known this was not going to work. Teammates sit at map border and most players don't seem to even be capable of reading. I've played 5 games solo and could not get a single star. Not really possible outside of a full division. At least it distracts these players with the new game mode so that they do not ruin my random battles.

Has anyone noticed the rewards are not being dished out when achieved ?  Or do you only get them once for that week and thats it ?

After multiple, multiple attempts, got all stars in Killer Whale and Defense of Naval Base just one time each - though once is enough.  Getting all stars in the other two operations came relatively easily.

 

Seriously, if you think players in randoms are bad, go into operations.  Makes the weekend warriors in randoms look like unicums.

 I've been loving the weekly operations, albeit depends on the team.  It is true that it is hard to find a good team and the problem is wasted time for such a long missions. But I have five starred killer whale numerous times and, 4 and 3 stars as well.   I think we have more successes then failures, on average, or at least enough to complete the mission. 

 It is definitely frustrating to get into a game where people simply do not listen, or they feel they know what's best instead of doing a team effort.  What else is new, right?  Doesn't the same thing happen in random games? It is funny how you can usually tell at the beginning of the game if there is an impending loss, like 3 destroyers Gnevny, Nicholas, Farragut.  Please, only the best players can play the ships on this mission. Picking the proper ship is obviously important.

I find the Cleveland and Texas best for this, in my group that is.   And the pay off is good, especially captains skills.

I love the Ops!

My results with random teams:

  1. Defense of Naval Station Newport - 5 stars
  2. Aegis - 4 stars
  3. Raptor Rescue - 4 stars
  4. Killer Whale - 5 stars
  5. Dunkirk - 5 stars

I don't think I had to play any of them more than 5 or 6 times, and a couple of them were first attempts.
