AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhh it's a great time to be a battleship-main in World of Warships. I mean, I guess it ALWAYS has been, but, you know. Just a collection of thoughts on recent developments for BBs, which will spark conversation OR be buried in the forum, which is probably what it deserves:

THE USS MASSACHUSETTS

I was almost crying when I saw that video. Ol' Big Mamie (aka BB-59) has been a source of fascination and regional pride for me for quite a while. I even got the chance to sleep overnight on her, right underneath a hole created from damage she sustained during the Naval Battle of Casablanca. Her story has intrigued me for years and to see her get the spotlight from WG (something LONG overdue) was wonderful. It also makes me hopeful that one day I may get the chance to actually pilot Big Mamie in game. Only qualm with the video was that they sorta skipped the rest of her career and a few other charming stories, but I guess that makes sense. The Naval Battle of Casablanca is the coolest part of BB-59's tale without a doubt, and one of the cooler episodes of US naval history in general.

HUNT FOR THE BISMARCK

In the end I really enjoyed this campaign, even if I didn't make it to camo or the ship itself. I barely have time to play most days, and couple that with the simply fact that *I royally suck at this game* to make the end goal even more unattainable. NONETHELESS it was fun, well organized, and encouraged more proactive play from lots of people, especially BBs, which was refreshing. It also helped me in my Yamato grind. Slapping all that camo and all those flags on my Izhumo has brought me that much closer to the Japanese behemoth and taught me to love a ship that I've *usually* HATED with a burning passion. I look forward to more campaigns like this.

BRITANNIA RULES THE WAVES

British battleships are probably the most-looked-forward-to battle-wagons in World of Warships, aside from ze Krautschiffe of course. The recent release of some of the ships is incredibly heartening, and I'm *cautiously* optimistic about the quality of the line. Nelson (presumably at tier 6), King George V at tier 7, Lion at tier 9, and Conqueror at tier 10 seems to have been the right way to go. The balance of paper and real ships at the upper tiers was a personal concern for a while, but I think they made all the right choices. Nelson and KVG are going to be overpowered at their tiers though, methinks. And I'm hoping they slap Vanguard into tier 8. This all bodes very well in general.

Massachusetts has all but been confirmed as a future premium.

Agreed mostly, or I hope so at least. Personally I was jonesing for her being a free tech tree ship in a second BB line for the Americans, but that's highly unlikely to happen.

I would spend money on that ship regardless. God bless Big Mamie.

It's arguably the best naval museum in the world, in addition to being the largest, if I recall. Since you've been there they've added the USS Lionfish, a Gato-class sub (I think), and the Hiddensee, a Russki-built East German missile corvette. I need to go back some time.

Sounds similiar to "Battleship Park" in Mobile Alabama. The USS Alabama is there along with the USS Drum(Gato) and a bunch of Tanks ,planes, cannons etc. (It seems the plane collection took quite a hit from Katrina). $15/day(less or free for actMil, +65, children)https://www.ussalabama.com/

Nelson seems to be a tier VII, while KGV is a tier VIII. The tier VI Is the Queen Elizabeth

We already have the Alabama as a premium and the South Dakota would defiantly be tier 8 of a second line. Why do we need another ship of this class?

I will be grinding to the T8 KGV(39) for sure.

& to the Bismarck (20K free exp or so to go) ( I did not do the Hunt)

& to the Iowa, eventually (at Colorado, atm).

Have the Yamato (1st T10, a recent achievement) ( I free exped past the Izumo, OP)

& I want a Rus BB line to show up (already training a Cpt for it, lol).

Fre, Ita BBs- maybe? (when the regular tech tree lines show up)

It's better then the USS Iowa, that's for sure. The museum on Battleship Cove is free and easy, so you can explore what you want at your own pace, whereas the Iowa has a linear tour with large sections roped off.  Also, maybe it's because I'm inexperienced with MREs, but the MRE chili the Iowa sells in its giftshop is about some of the foulest thing I've ever tasted.  How the heck do you screw up chili?  It's delicious in a can, and lasts forever, how does sticking it in a pouch destroy the flavor?

British line seems to be:

Tier III: Bellerophon

Tier IV: Orion

Tier V: Iron Duke

Tier VI: Queen Elizabeth

Tier VII: Nelson

Tier VIII: King George V (39)

Tier IX: Lion (38)

Tier X: Conquerer (modernized L2)

The Tier VII label on the KGV graphic seems to have been an error.

I really don't see how they can leave out the Vanguard at 10 or at least an 8 premium. Was the end of the line for Brit BB's besides being an actual ship.

Had the most advanced fire control of any REAL British BB. Of course in that respect(fire control and accuracy) they do little justice to any post treaty or modernized US BB's either or others , but have to keep  later tier German and Japanese ships in the game..

As a one off hodgepodge using left over WWI guns Vanguard will likely be a future premium.  Premiums are not announced along with line ships.  Often a premium is released shortly before the tech tree line, in this case that was Hood.

Vanguard is just a. Awkward ship, that's why. The hull would be fine as a tier VIII or IX, but the guns are just to weak - imagine having Warspite's guns on a ship with tier VIII or IX MM. She'll never be fit for tier IX or X. My guess is, she'll be used as a.tier VIII premium sometime in the future. RN BBs will be a line WG will leak for premiums for a while. There's still Dreadnought at tier III they could use... a Revenge-class battleship at tier VI... Another KGV at tier VII or VII, as Duke of York and Prince of Wales are both big picks for premiums...

Because choosing the Alabama was a mistake and they should have picked a ship with a more interesting history. The Massachusetts is manifold more interesting and more deserving of a place in WoW as far as I'm concerned. I'm still bitter, as a student of history and as a New Englander, that they chose Bamy over Mamie. Besides, why would WoW not want to fund the largest collection of warships in the world (Battleship Cove, Fall River, MA)? To not do so would be unlike WG, it would be yet another mistake.

I personally hope the Massachusetts appears as a free tech ship (instead of the SoDak), but I dunno how realistic that is. Besides, if they can have 5 Kong-class ships (Kongo, and the 4 weaboo ships), there is zero reason why they can't have 2 or three SoDak-class ships.

It kind of is, but it's got more ships (6 as opposed to 2). It's apparently the largest such collection in the world. And lord knows they need financial help all the time to maintain the ships. Hence why I'm in support of them tossing Big Mamie in there and having them do what they've done with other museums/organizations in the past.

That's the beauty of Battleship Cove. Hopefully one day in the future more of the Iowa will be on display. Exploring Big Mamie was one of my childhood joys, I could spend a whole day on here...

Ohhhhh that makes much more sense. When I originally saw the clips, I was thinking, "The KGV is gonna be hella OP at her tier, the Nelson too...is something up?" But now I know. Hooray.

Though I was hoping to be able to play the Vanguard...I don't have the money for another premium ship on my present budget, and I'd only break that rule if the Massachusetts shows up.

As a premium US BB , I would say USS Washington and about a 20 point commander Ching Lee. Not as a new premium , but should have been done to start.
