Perth is in the shop again, and wondering if it is worth the investment.  Moving smoke sounds interesting, but have not seen a lot of Perths out there.  I have the Belfast, and it is a load of fun, also have the Minotaur, so have progressed up RN line.  Feel a little burned on my last purchase (Duca), so a bit reluctant to shell out added cash for a meh cruiser.  Performance stats are not great and captain training an issue.

OK..  It's a tier 6 RN cruiser that has HE.

And if you wondered where the 'Smoke Mod 1' goes...  <here>

My last Operation, I used the Perth (Cleveland was in cool-down -- and I'm too cheap to pay the 75K)

Worked pretty good until I flubbed the torp launch against the Gneisenau and got plastered good.

Stealth fire works fine.  Bots ignore you if you are invisible.

Well I like mine a lot, and use her in random often. The big thing with Perth is always keep a eye on where cover is, so when your smoke goes down you have a place hide. And use the Premium consumables they are worth it.

She is a fast and good turning Lady but very thin skinned so you smoke is your friend. And she is Commonwealth - Royal Australian Navy, NOT Royal Navy so you cannot use her as a Captain trainer for your RN and you DO NOT have Repair Party.

She is a great support ship, backing a team BB raining HE on the Red team, I have also found she can be good DD hunter but not great, some DD players will eat her up.

And she is not a destroyer :)

Intrigue. Judging by what's in the premium shop now, it seems WG would like to keep us guessing about which tier/s for the imminent ranked battle season.  From what I've read in the rumor mill, the final call within WG on which tier/s it will be hadn't, and perhaps hasn't, yet been made.

if you want a Tier 6 RN cruiser that spam he in smoke? It would be a perfect time to get it because next season of Rank battles will be tier 6!

You need 3 things to make the Perth borderline OP:

1. Smoke mod 1

2. 19 point CO

3. Play 300 games on her.

I agree about the Smoke Generator Mod 1.  After getting no Super Containers since around January, I finally got one last week, and, it was going to be a mod, I was hoping for this one.  It did turn out to be a mod, and to my delight, it was this one.  After carefully unpacking the container, I was carrying it past all my Destroyer captains who were trying to get my attention.  However, I kept waving them off and headed straight for the Perth.  It may be useful on other ships, but it is especially compatible with the Perth's smoke.  Here is why.

As you may know, the Perth's smoke is unique.  Most ships generate smoke for a short time, but the duration of each puff is fairly long.  The Perth is the opposite.  It generates new puffs for a long time (90 seconds), but each puff only lasts a short time (10 seconds).  This means that you can keep moving (effectively only at 1/4 speed) and stay in your smoke while most ships have to stop after short time to remain in their smoke cloud.

What this mod does is increase the generation time by 30% (to 117 seconds for the Perth) at the cost of a 12% reduction in the duration of each puff (8.9 seconds for the Perth).  That takes your total maximum time of being in smoke (per charge) from 100 seconds to almost 126 seconds.  Since the way the smoke works on the Perth, you are always using your last puff, gaining almost 26 more seconds worth of "last puffs" is well worth the loss of 1.1 seconds duration on the actual last puff.

This makes the ship even better.

If you should stop firing @ the 20-30 sec mark and decide whether to run for it or not. I recommend being 9 km away from any red tm ship before the smoke runs out so that you can go silent and disengage.

1 good reason to get spotters rather than fighters. You can kite away and still shoot up to 15 km.
