Stop playing your Minos so hyper aggressively.

It doesn't work.

Every Mino I come across plays exactly the same way. They yolo into a cap circle, pop smoke, and wait to be detected by radar or smashed by blind-fire torps from everyone in range. That, or they try to leave their smoke and eat a bag of citadel ****s.

Why? Why do they play like this? I cannot figure it out.

Because knowing when to position aggressively is a fine line but, with Mino's firepower, can be very rewarding if judged correctly.

If not, what you described happens.

I love over aggressive Britbong CLs. They provide me with many great citadel hits and lots of free damage.

Yeah, stupid British captains.

Hey, that's the way I play.

I just add an island to hide behind.

Hey, my Neptune has a 72%WR.

Yup, going to keep doing it, even in the Minotaur.

Not all Minotaur players. And this does not describe how to succeed moving up the line.

First rule of smoking CLs:  have an exit plan and leave before your smoke runs out.

Second rule:  try to position yourself so you don't need smoke.  IOW lob shells over islands, etc.

3rd: know which enemy cruisers have radar, where they are, and what their radar range is.

4:  don't smoke up unless you have at least 2 potential targets and have a spotter

5: angle in your smoke and don't fire salvos because that makes it too easy to blindly citadel you. Keep moving inside smoke and assume torps are inbound.

The 15.8 km range and wonky shell arcs make it a challenge  Moskva's range is over 19 km. AP only means no damage-over-time unless you torp and cause a flood, but you really don't want any ship big enough to eat torps within 10 km. If your target angles, your damage drops off dramatically.

Playing the Minotaur well still baffles me.  Actually cruisers above Tier 7 baffle me except for Kutuzov and Dmitri Donskoi. However, I'll keep trying and I certainly won't play like the OP describes.

Well, I don't yolo into cap, but I do play Minotaur as aggressively as my concealment allows.

The ones you want to teach are unlikely to be here on the forums.

These.

I don't have a Mino but when I spot one I will shoot at it af&aoap (as fast & as often as possible). I don't like them shooting at me, lol.

The shell loft on the Neptune and Mino are a challenge. I like the ship, but have better luck most of the time with the Khab. That ship is even less able to rush and cap.

Playing aggressive can be rewarding though...you just have to know when to take the risk. It's better than playing to the passive meta that's going on now. I try to play as aggressive as my Neptune will allow, but can't wait to have the better concealment that the Minotaur has to offer.

She's really only highly effective when played aggressively due to short (effective) range guns. The key is playing aggressively but smartly. You don't just charge in until spotted and then smoke; you move up carefully, use terrain, save smoke for when you have spotting, and position yourself to limit vulnerability to torps and to limit number of ships that can target you. And always have an exit strategy.

Minotaur players excel when they know the maps well and know how to read the flow of a game. When they have a good sense of what red ships are likely to go where. When they know who has radar and can keep track of cooldown times. I'm an average player at best overall, but I do very well in Minotaur because I know how to play her strengths and compensate for weaknesses through smart play. You have to be aggressive to be effective, but you have to know how, when, and where to be aggressive.
