So to understand, put an update in for the last 4 hours of the Bismarck event?

Take away the time for completing the "Hunt for the Bismarck" event. What sense of madness is this WG? Do you guys even talk from one department to the other? Granted I completed the event, but others? Wow.

Yeah, thanks for pointing this out. Wasn't going to say anything, but I am on the edge, cutting it close and of course they update today. Now I am at work, won't even be able to attempt that push till 8 a.m. E.T.

Sigh.

Server downtime was announced beforehand.

That said, release/campaign overlapping is a bad case, and we will take action to avoid such overlaps in the future whenever possible.
Please take our apologies for possible inconvenience:(

Well, Sub, it wasn't 4 hours. It was only 2 at most. These guys had weeks to get their crap together. The second poster wants to play -after- the official announced end time that was announced in May.

First guy is exaggerating. Still, I demand a free ship (Nickola or Gremmy will be fine) for the perceived inconvenience!! :P

Sometimes I think these guys have their heads in a bucket.

Ahhh no, thanks for categorizing me in such broad strokes, and like I said, I wasn't even going to mention it.

I had one graduate from high school, and one from college during this event. I work 50 to 60 hours a week, and the last three weekends I have been at work upgrading firewalls around 4 a.m. I am on the board for a couple of local small organizations, and I have been volunteering for extra board duties.

It is not like the last 2 or 4 hours would have made or broke me anyway, but the timing was a bit off since it coincided with the deadline.

But anyway, thanks for just throwing me in the trash heap of baddy irrational players who's very lives don't orbit around this game . . . and can't get their crap together, seeing as how real world demands required more of my attention.

Anyways, not a huge deal, just tagged onto the topic as it was there.

Good Day to you sir, I am one of those ppl who apparently have their heads stuck in a bucket, I'm a casual gamer and play when I can, (Not to say there are other's who are casual gamers and wasn't able to get the Bismark) lots of responsibilities in RL and all that Jazz. This is the 1st i've ever committed to engaging in an event as normally I say "Hey, I can't manage that", but a chance to be rid of the Bayern and skip to the Bismark? and all I had to do was work for it? I gave it a whirl, and truth be told, I enjoyed the event... right up until I only had 56k give or take damage application left to finish the very last task to finally get what i'm been playing so hard to attain only to drop from the game with an hour left for the event and not be able to login back in. BTW, I can do that amount of damage in a single game. Sooooo close. At the end of the day, I find it unfair and frustrating. Whether it was a communication error, or mayb the information was put out there in hopes that people would notice, at the end of the day it wasn't pointed out 'till it happened. I suppose I could ask or gripe about it knowing full well my opinion where Wargaming is concerned probably means nothing, I mean its a free game and all but I feel like I was hog tied and thrown into the back of a truck just before a major Gig. Quite literally had the Goal in front of me only to find that the goal no longer exists just before you could reach out and touch it. So i'm sorry I couldn't get my "crap together" like i'm sure so many other players could but I think Wargaming could pause and look at this as i'm now hearing that there were other events that were cut short for other reasons. I'm not asking for a reward or any item of any form, hell, don't even award me the Bismark, I want to finish working for it. I'd like for the event to be extended for day so I can finish working towards that goal. - Flamers will Flame, but that's the great thing about opinions, the're yours and yours alone.

I just wanted you guys to be aware for the future. :great: There will be players that wait sometimes for that last minute. IRL it messes with everyone's schedule. BTW, Love the new update. :honoring:

Really?? All I wanted for my POV is to make WG aware of the scheduling mishap. They (WG) understood the point and will prevent it from happening in the future. Problem solved.

We can only empathize with other WoWS players, missing out on the Bismarck event in which they could have gotten more signals or emblems. You have to realize that time is everyone's enemy, and not everyone can manage it.

why did hunt for bismarck campaign go away without any type of notification  ? and why wg follow through with the original time frame of campaigns? it seems to me if wg post and gives out such type of missions players should be allowed to finish these under the original time frame and not shorten because wg sees it is ok to do so,the only thing this seems to be happening is to upset alot of players? but who cares right? this time last year we had over 30k in players and now we get 13k lost of two thirds should be a great concern ?

We did get notification.

Starts May 18 at 07:00 PT (10:00 ET)
Ends June 7 at 05:00 PT (08:00 ET)

From the announcement on the WG front page https://worldofwarships.com/en/news/common/bismarks-the-spot/

I point this out as some one with less 50k damage needed to finish the entire campaign, however RL got in the way and my play time and testing time were minimized because of work obligations. I finally got to spend time yesterday completing missions 3-6 and all but the last ~50k-ish damage on the final task for mission 7.

Sometimes we simply don't have enough time between RL and WG life to get everything we want but I can't blame WG for my 80hr work weeks and family life, they don't control that. They gave us 3 weeks to complete this, that is a week more than we usually get for events.

It is unfortunate, but what's the right course of action?

Option 1 - Event ends the night before patch day:  Players will become confused because most things happen at server reset, and some players who didn't have time to finish may suggest that the extra few hours would have given them enough time to finish their missions.

Option 2 - Event ends the day after patch day:  Players may become upset because they are unable to play due to very long patch time.  They budgeted for a full day marathon, but only ended up with 6 hours and missed it...  by that much.

Option 3 - Event ends at the end of a weekend:  This is probably the best way to end the event, but at the same time, you have people who would complain about working weekends and thus missing out.

I feel like WG is in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" position here.  Regardless, for players who didn't make it, we're talking a port slot (300 doubloons), a 1 point captain, and a few million credits OR a tech tree ship which can be purchased (and to be fair, skipping tiers 4-7 is missing out on some seriously fun ships).  It's not like we're talking about a premium ship that will never return.  That said, I can completely understand the frustration.  It's why I try not to wait during time-sensitive events like Ranked Battles or various promotions.  While it's not always possible to do this, at least they are creating content to keep peoples' attention...  and it's free!
