Seriously, this mechanic is garbage...it cannot go away fast enough.

It's really only bad if you are in a torpedoless cruiser or >8km concealment DD without smoke.

For all other ships, as long as you are paying attention, you are given plenty of time to setup in a good position.

Yeah not sure why this mechanic is in? This game is already slow enough as is...if you lack radar/sonar ...its really a period where not much of anything happens while people try to get in position for when it ends, based on information that is clearly out of date.

 

Honestly I'm struggling to understand what this mechanic adds to the game?

Yeah not sure why this mechanic is in? This game is already slow enough as is...if you lack radar/sonar ...its really a period where not much of anything happens while people try to get in position for when it ends, based on information that is clearly out of date.

 

No no, it's a period where you can make best of an effective 8km concealment rating to smack somebody while the storm rages.

 

CA/CLs with torps can make good use of a cyclone, as well as anyone trying to get somewhere when they know there's a DD out there somewhere.

My major issue with the cyclones is that even though they got rid of open water stealth firing they did not correct the issue in all cases especially for how it works for planes during a cyclone. I mean the way that it currently works is that you can actually have planes getting shot down during a cyclone without seeing what is shooting them. This is a major issue with carriers, because at higher tiers especially in my Essex a Iowa can kill all my planes before I can plan a strike: Instead I have to guess with the mini-map on angles because I cannot see them until I'm in short range AA the range.

i had an excellent time in the last one i was in. Our 6 ships went for B and we were able to out brawl a squadron of 4 red and a minute later a squadron of 3 ships with only 2 losses. its a fun mechanic

Every match screeches to a grinding halt when cyclones hit. 

- if you're not near center of map, you're screwed getting to targets.

- if you're remotely separated from other team mates, even by a few KM, you can get hammered by 4-5 ships which pop out of the storm

- renders DDs useless unless 5.4 km detection, and even then its not a fun game anymore

 

I hate cyclones.  Sure, I've gotten into some situations where I got into a 1v1 mis-match which is advantageous to me.  Bismarck vs Atlanta at 7km for Example.

 

But most of the time I think it stinks.

I would rather see Strafe go away first. Never really had much trouble with cyclone.

you get like a 6min warning that the cyclone is incoming, which should be plenty of time to get yourself into a forward position.

Cyclones can turn the tide in what may seem like a hopeless battle, some times. Lets say you're on the team that's a bit less fortunate, you're at the western flank and the eastern flank has fallen and enemy has two caps and seems to be winning. But, because of how they played they are spread out in a line but your four/five ships are in a group and heading for them as the cyclone hits. When visibility is low, your group can meet them one by one and take them out and regain the balance of the match or even winning. If the other team is smart and regroups however, it doesn't matter. But it's there as a way for a game to have a chance to turn around. Some times it works, some times it doesn't.

I think they shouldn't be in ranked, or competitive play, but for random? Bring it on.

Appreciate some people may like it...but ultimately...its pretty pointless and adds very little to the game.

On the other hand, if there is one thing I'd like to see either removed or avoided by in-game setting it is the Epicenter mode. When you enter there, it's just dead silent. None of the teams want to be there, and just want to get it over with fast.

There are times that they are nothing but bad but most of the time they are what you make of them. Even more so than without them don't sail alone.

Meh...some like it some dont...might not be pointless...but really still adds little.

 

In terms of salt..my clan name is (NACL)...so no worries about the sodium levels...and sodium from players is better than from random mechanics.

 

Detonations on misses anyone?
