Pink for what?!

i just had a battle where I'm now TK for 5 games for a grand total of 632 in team damage. That's right 632. Really?! In Scharn I didn't launch any torps. I hit a Hood with an AP shell for 511 (the other 5 hit an enemy Aoba who was close to the Hood). Now the Hood was low less than 2000 - is that the reason? Either way I'm 5 in co-op because it's the weekend and the percentage of idiots who think it's ok to shoot someone that's pink goes way up. I've only been pink 4 times in 7,500+ battles- not so good with torp judgement in DDs sometimes. Whining is over.

Doing steady amounts of team damage over a number of battles, killing a friendly, or resetting a friendly ship that is taking a capture point will turn you pink. I highly suggest looking into these, or posting a replay.

TK status is from (I believe) accumulated damage, not from a single match. So that match just put you over the top. 5 matches is also a very short penalty representing the minor infraction I presume. Don't think the Hoods health had anything to do with it, nor do I know the threashold/formula for team damage, but I'd just take it as a remind to watch how much hull scraping of other ships your doing lol, it adds up.

The first time I went pink in months was when my Emerald's AP shell hit an allied destroyer who was charging the cruiser I was aiming for. Even though it was only ~600 damage, it turned me pink.

It is kind of silly seeing that message "You are a team killer" for something minor.  I've been pink twice since the beginning of the game, once early on for blasting  a dd with my NM that was trying to kill me and our cv.  Second time I clipped a NC with a he shell that ended up doing 10-15k.  He didn't even complain though cause he was most likely f'd in his position and I was defending him from a dd that had just smoked up, and we won so wth.

Dont worry about it. Just work it off. The pink system is stupid and has little effect on gameplay, for most people. Almost everyone will turn pink if they play regularly.

This'll happen. People used to panic or shun the user when they saw someone pink, but now nobody really cares. Just avoid bumping into other ships and it'll go away quickly

Hey OP, try 85 points of damage and get turned pink. Happened to me. I nicked an friendly ship's antenna wires with my awesome BB dispersion as he was fighting another BB. The enemy BB blasted him from 3/4 health just seconds before my shells hit, stripping him down to 85 points. Then the errant shell, nick, - and boom. Team killer.

People complain about being turned pink a lot, but it really means absolutely nothing. Doesn't change how the game operates in any way whatsoever, unless you start damaging teammates again. Which is completely fair, and really shouldn't even be happening to begin with.

Just fyi, the ship's comms antennas, and even the fire control systems aren't modeled hitboxes, shells will just pass through them.

I tend to avoid pink players. It means they're reckless with torpedoes. Do you want to be near someone like that?

In a lot of cases they aren't pink for torps, but for errant shells. I turned pink in GK for a particularly awful dispersion in which a single shell killed a cruiser at 200 HP which was about 1.5-2 kms from my target, which was about 8 km from me. 

 

Of course, people grief as well. I've been griefed twice that I know of.

Nope. You can get it from one battle and I am pretty sure it only cares about an individual battle.

You CAN get it from a single match, your right. But I think it is ALSO cumulative over multiple battles, but as I don't have a official statement from WG of on this... I might be wrong. I say this cause I have turned pink in a match for doing small collision damage (that did not result in a TK), two matches after I carelessly torping an ally (but also didn't result in a TK).

Thanks for all the responses. Like I said, I was whining and I was trading paint/hull scraping - one Nurnberg in particular, he just wouldn't turn. It just tee'd me off that I'm pink for something extremely minor. Off to co-op.

If you landed an HE shell on an ally and lit them up and they're unable to DCP it off (or don't want to because they're conserving their DCP), you can turn pink from that (around 5 warnings while they burn followed by insta-TK status).

Yea, that's possible too. I think it's a lot rarer though.

Yup- burned a Nagato with 1 HE from Shchors once for another pink- and he survived and we won. Ugh.

Team killer comes from steady damage and from taking the final HP of a friendly. It is that way because the griefers knew that as long as they didn't step over the damage threshold they wouldn't turn pink.

​Well then it must have been lag at what I saw. Because the shell literally was flying over the very top of the ship and clipped the wire.

Yeah i full hp killed a friendly DD the other day but didn't shoot anyone for at least 3 games before that, and still got pink! What gives?

Still at a loss on this...just did my 5 battle penance in co-op with no team damage. Still have one more battle which, when I learned math, 5+1=6. Not real sure why I have to play 6 for 5 game penalty.

It sets you back even if you do a tiny bit by bumping a friendly ship, its why coop is suggested for quickly getting through the pinkness
