The last British battleship... the Mikasa. Ordered from the Vickers shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness in 1898 and completed in 1902, she is the last British-built battleship in existence:

I think they could take the current 10 tiers and add 5 more, making our current tier 1, tier 6.... tier 1 thru 5 could be Monitors (Slow Reloads, Biggest Calibers, Extremely slow propulsion), PreDreadnought Battleships(Better reloads, and Secondaries, Still slow Propulsion), Armored Cruisers, Protected Cruisers (both cruisers types being good solid balanced ships per tier play), Frigates, Corvettes, and Torpedo boats (These three lowest class, no health or armor used for scouting and screening for the slow big gun BBs and Monitors) or they could make it a separate "Game Mode" for turn of the century ships.... This could be so much fun if done right.... Some Monitors had huge guns, hand me downs from dreadnoughts at times, and I can just see in my head a torpedo boat with no health or Armour running down a slow 12 knot Monitor, praying that the 18 inch gun misses while on a point blank torpedo run, while the monitor player is thinking he has to hit with his one shot, or he may have a 90 sec crazy slow reload. IDK, just some thoughts off the top of my head.... French and Russian PreDreadnoughts, would give flavor to the game for sure, and also set WOWS apart from any other game with 19th and turn of the century ships making this game truly unique. I'd love to see the Maine, original Texas, Kearsarge, and the WW1 and WW2 monitors that the UK and US had.... keys to this is slow speed, and slow reloads of main guns but devastating damage potential if hit low accuracy, low gun range, low amount of secondaries. On the other hand smaller ships boast, small caliber guns, no health, no armor, but quick, agile, and nimble, and slow reload of torpedoes for smaller craft. again just thoughts, but these ships, on smaller maps, could be fun.

Everyone talking about the Borodino, that's a pre-pre-dreadnought, lol. If we're trying to keep things on the level of a Mikasa then I have a better suggestion, the Russian battleship Retvisan which hails from the turn of the century. And it's beautiful. Often seems to be confused with USS Georgia BB-15 due to similarity of appearance and artwork on the bow, but had very different main turrets. I was gonna suggest the aforementioned USS Georgia BB-15 as well, but someone already did on like page 7 I think?? Anyways, here is a picture of Retvisan. It's pretty similar to Potemkin, so Potemkin should likely get the nod over this one being more famous and all. But it certainly would make the case for more and more ships to be added. I don't agree with the 1 ship per nation rule. Bring them on even if they are premiums. lol

One last thing. I don't agree with limiting a game. And Wargaming as a business should know this, lol. Who cares if we have 14 branches on the Battleship tech tree for several nations? If that's what the players want and keeps them playing and interested, bring it on! If it was up to me then every ship that ever served from 1900 til 1945 would be in the game, lol.

Thanks for that. I agree with all your observations, especially the last. ;)

I'll add Retvizan to the Russian pre-dreadnought armada soon.

I've been playing a few months now. First time posting here.   While I've never been a hard-core gamer, I've connected with WOWS..   I'm a Navy vet of the cold war 1980s, and my Grandfather served in the WW1 era. Thus the subject of my post.

I would like to see the USS Georgia (BB-15), or at least one of that class represented.

Admittedly, this is a selfish request.  My Grandfather, Fred Peck was a Gunners Mate aboard the Georgia.. Sorry for the poor quality picture, but Fred is kneeling in the front row, far left.  While the ship didn't see combat in the war, his service had a profound impact on our family.  There was a Flu outbreak aboard the ship due to overcrowding.  A large number of the crew fell victim to it, including my Grandfather. The sick were kept outside on the weather decks to prevent spreading the virus to the interior spaces. Several died.  Fred survived, but his immune system was never the same, and he died before I was born at a relatively young age..

As for game play, I can see these ships performing missions common of the time..  Blockade duty.  Shore bombardment.  Convoy escort. Even Pirate hunting.

here's the wiki page:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Georgia_(BB-15)

As a general comment.. I'd like to see a training mode.   "Back in the day"  we used to drag target sleds for ships to shoot at.  One could potentially earn a decoration for good marksmanship.  There could be a navigation training mode too, drive the ship through buoys.  Tin Can Captains could practice bringing their ships to a pier.  Just some ideas.

Should pre-dreadnoughts be added, one ship I'd really like to see is HMS Victoria from 1887. Despite sinking in 13 minuets after colliding with another ship during maneuvers, she was the home of John Jellicoe back when he was an XO, and supposedly Admiral Horatio Nelson's sword is in the wreck as the captain was a big admirer of Nelson. Plus the ship looks really cool!

USS Virginia BB-13 has to be put on this list as it is a pre-dreadnought and is not likely to be apart of any new Battleship lines. Also, @Stauffenberg44 some of the ships in you post are inactive testing or are in development such as Gangut and other ships.

I do note the Gangut which has become the Okt. Revolutsiya . The Dreadnought and Viribus Unitis I am also waiting before I post updates here, thanks.

HMS Victoria is strictly speaking an ironclad. I doubt they would consider "the Slipper" (her nickname because of her low front deck tending to disappear in even mild seas), although perhaps as a Tier I BB alongside the French Redoubtable which I have already listed and she is a very unique ship.

USS Virginia is already represented by USS Georgia, a subsequent Virginia-class pre-dreadnought which I have already listed.

Viribus Unitis is the latest addition to in-game ships listed and all five of them are now noted in red on the list. Let's hope this list grows!

That this fleet of pre-dreadnoughts made it around Cape of Good Hope on their 18,000 mile journey from the Baltic to the Sea of Japan in 1904-05 is nothing short of epic, not to mention tragic given their fate at Tsushima. A fine documentary on this for those interested:

I would like to see the USS Maine added to the game. I think it would be awesome to get her in here.

Yes and perhaps the Brazilian battleship Riachuelo, the reason the Maine was built at the time. Pretty much ironclads both would be tier I or II.

tier 2. WG said that they will never make a tier 1 premium, and that is a promise made by the above-dev team people.

If anyone suggested or wanted the pre-dread Slava, forget about it. The name is being taken by a paper/fake Soviet T10 BB. We probably won't see the real Slava in WoWS after all, or any other pre-dreads for that matter.

Interesting. I would put money on the pre-dreadnought Borodino appearing at least though. WG has a problem with newbs appearing and leaving--a raft of pre-dreads at lower tier would likely keep many of them playing. They opened pandora's box with the Mikasa and they can't close it at this point.

The Izmail has arrived and is the 6th ship on the list to appear so far, albeit a battlecruiser, not a pre-dreadnought. In the game the Izmail feels, and looks, like the Oktabryskaya Revolutsiya... on steroids. A welcome addition to the Russian battleship line.

Sadly not in her historical form but a fake Soviet refit made up by WG, so she doesn't count for me.

Yes well I've seen you argue this elsewhere. A more "historical" Izmail by your definitions would have been nice I suppose, but they have their own reasons for putting these out in the way they do. As they do with the French line, the Brits, the Germans etc etc. etc. I have no complaints about that as they are effecting a reality-derived game, not a full-on naval sim. All these ships are "fake" if one insists on that. I don't. The Soviet Navy proposed in 1925 to convert Izmail, the ship closest to completion, to an aircraft carrier, but the plan was cancelled after political maneuvering by the Red Army led to funding not being available. I would not have complained about the Izmail appearing in WoWs as a CV if it came to that either.

Bring on the Borodino please, as "historical" as you can.

Well I'm glad to see you're fine with historical ships with fake refits. WoWS for me has been very disappointing. I don't mind the direction they're going, it's just pointless for WG to publish historical articles/videos of the ships when their historical designs aren't even there to begin with, Izmail included. It's a game and they should stick to it. If WG wants to exclude the historical design from the game entirely then they shouldn't bother talking about the ship's history either.
