It has already been stated that the Super Yamato will not be in the game.

Unfortunately from what I have read in other posts no "Super" Yamato is planned for the game.  The 18.1" guns of the Yamato class will be the largest in the game.

Some ships are more fantasy then reality.

Super Yammy is one of them.

It may just be me that is stupid, but how do 8 × 510 mm (20.1 in)/45 caliber guns become 2x3 turrets?  :Smile_unsure:

Dont that mean 3 turrets with doubles?, 6 guns not 8 barrels?

With the possible exception for high-tier German ships, due to having less guns.

With the probable exception of until WG changes it's mind....

Super Yamato is a period conjectural design and of course none of those are in WoT now are they? Paper tanks, paper planes, why not paper ships?

The design is for four turrets, two fore two aft.

I've been looking at the sources wiki stated and others to, here is one
http://navweaps.com/...WNJAP_20-45.htm

And they say 3 turrets of dual guns, I only find wiki mentioning 4 turrets, the rest mention 3

There will be! The Devs have said that there will be a German CV line for instance.

Why? Because the Devs have put the upper tonnage limit on ships at around 80,000 tons,  the A-150 comes in at 90,000 tons...

When I was in Japan back in 2005, my buddy Kenji was a navy ship freak, so he had all kinds of data on the "Super Yamato". From what I remember him talking about, they had 3 different ideas bouncing around the Naval College. First, was a 3 turret design, 2 forward, one aft, with 1st turret 3 guns, second turret 2 guns, and rear turret 3 guns (total of 8 guns). Second design idea was 3 turrets with just dual guns, and last concept was more or less 3 turrets with 18.1 with longer barrels and more armor (Speed up production with what you already have and know).

I've never seen anything about 4 turrets in the stuff he showed me.

Even aside from the A-150 breaching the tonnage limit, the firing cycle for a 20.1" gun at maximum elevation would be measured in minutes. By the time you've gotten off a few aimed salvos the battle's already over.

The predicted cycle time was ~50 seconds, rougly 50% longer than the 18inch.

You're not really looking at several minute long cycle times until you go over ~600mm.

That's zero-elevation without time of flight for spotting, otherwise it's got to factor elevation and time of flight for corrections.

To basicaly answer the question as to why the "Super Yammy" (going with that name) wont be in the game (In my opinion) is balancing. Iowa is already either a tier 9 or tier 10 fast line with montana being tier 10 heavy BB and the Yammy is tier 10 for Jap heavy BB. The Americans to my knowledge have no ship that could really balance out with a "Super Yammy" or Yammy on steriods.

Like very large designs everywhere there are a number of issues making them reality.

Where do you build and launch them?

Few nations could build more than one very large ship at a time. France in building the liner Normadie, much the size of this ship but different proportions, specially build the dry dock for building this ship. And when launched in the early 30's her hull was 27,000 tons plus (finishing out at around 80,000 tons), the largest hull launched to that time. Recall when the Mushasi was launched the wave crossed the bay and did great damage on the opposite shore.

Where do you dock them and service them?

If a ship is really big it is limited to only a few spaces for docking. For a liner keeping a set schedule this is not so bad because you can plan. For a warship this could be critical if two large ships need that same single large dock at the same time. Also liners seldom come into harbor with deeper than normal draft due to action damage, like a torpedo hit. Large ships have deep draft and can use only those harbors deep enough to take them. A problem exacerbated by damage.

One ship can only be in one place. Many ships can be in many places.

For a real world navy with many obligations several smaller ships is almost always better than a few big ships. A single or even a pair of very large ships might win a given battle but if three other battles are lost because they can only be in one place ultimately the war will be lost.

While it is undoubtably good to have weapons of good quality, as has been said many times, "quantity has a quality all it's own"  or similar words to the same sentiment

I'm very glad the largest warship built in the period set the upper limit for the game.

They also said that was a bad end game balancing mistake.
Doubtful they would make it twice.
