I have completed the set and have the camo....It's useless, as I already have premium camo on my Bis. And the "winnable" camo is not as good. (less reward for the camo!)

So it's another useless mission/collection.

Hi folks - the good news is how the math works out is the following - if you finish the Bismarck campaign, the probabilities, plus the 4:1 badge trade in option will get you the cammo reward w/ for all intents & purposes 100% certainty unless at the time of completion, you have only 9 or fewer unique badges (out of at least 68) - which is statistically near impossible.  

 

As a comparison point, I'm 6 pins into Mission 3 and have collected 18 badges of 24 w/ 12 duplicates.

 

The better news is that if you structure your tasks efficiently (also a Premium account helps if you can run 3 concurrently instead of 2), you should have even more badges from your containers netting you ~500K extra silver from all the duplicate badges if you just complete the Bismarck Mission.  To maximize the silver reward, don't trade in your badges for missing ones until you complete the mission and actually have gaps (the odds are that you may not be missing any badges or just one) - this maximizes the amount of silver you can get at 10K per badge for the duplicates.

I got the two Bismarck skins last night - and I had plenty of duplicates - heres how it works.

 

Instead of issuing you with the duplicate badge, it gets converted into "keys" (each badge is worth 3 or 4 keys - I didn't count them, so am unsure of the exact number).

 

In my case, I had collected all but three badges - right click over a missing badge and you will be asked if you would like to purchase the badge for 3 or 4 keys (again - I got the skins pretty late last night, and I no longer remember the exact number).

 

I had a dozen keys, so purchased all three missing badges - and was credited with silver for the keys I had left after the skins were issued (and I imagine there will be silver credits for all future badges, as I'm only on the final task of Mission 4.

 

So - tl:dr - don't despair the duplicates, as they are not a hindrance in completing the collection for the skins.

 

As for the skins - they look awesome (and give the usual +3 and +4 as well as +50% XP) - I played one game using the battle-damage camo - and had a 135K damage game with 3 kills, 156 secondary hits, 16 planes shot down, and a solo cap - and reaped me a ton of XP, commander XP, and silver.

 

Pretty sure it was mostly due to that skin!

I'm wondering if there is actually a true mechanic involved in this (mostly for fun) assertion. 

 

The reason is if you use the Bismarck post-battle cammo that shows the Bismarck w/ a lot of damage, shell-holes, etc., I wonder if it works to the detriment of a player group that is more experienced to know about the damage saturation mechanic, but are getting fooled into thinking the Bismarck skin is the result of in-game damage (and thus not firing on locations you would usually fire on to do damage thinking they will get low damage rolls due to saturation if they do). 

 

You may have been half- serious with this comment, but it could actually be true!

No shortage of opportunities to get at least 3 more unique ones to bring in range of exchange though so no panic.

​Duplicates can be traded in for missing badges at a rate of 4 dupes for 1. Yesterday  I got my last 4 badges by trading in my dupes. Now that my collection is complete by the 3rd mission, all subsequent badges earned will rewarded with 10K credits at the conclusion of the Hunt.

Staristically this should be a relatively common occurrence happening just over 4% of the time (so players won't be surprised).  If you finish the Bismarck campaign (w/o Hood) you will get at least 68 badges out of the effort meaning you should expect this would happen to you about 1-2 times during this campaign (34 CC min).
