Hood Camo for those without Hood

So, I don't have the BritBoat, and right now I'm much more pressed to pay bills than to buy the BritBoat. That may change in the future, so I ask you (and Wargaming) if we earn the skin in the event, does it stay credited to our account so that we could use it later on if we buy the Hood? Or is it just a once-off thing that a great many people will be grumpy about once they realise they missed out on it?
