I seem to recall that within a week of the German cruisers, the sub forum for the Germans CAs had dozens of threads. Is there so little interest in the French?

Its due to the many current French cruiser topics existing in the general cruiser forum. Now that there is a French section, the new topics will slowly migrate here. I suppose WG could do a little housekeeping and move them here but that may play havoc with various links.

These Cruisers are HE spamming Cruisers, which is not a unique thing, with zero utility.  There's not much to talk about them.

They are excellent ships, I'm enjoying the ride more than I did the German cruisers.  Must be a playstyle thing

less talk about them doesn't necessarily mean they are less well received. I've heard pleasant reviews about a few tech tree favourites.

People have been turned off by the armor at low tiers, along with some bad reloads on some.

 

Overall the tree is good, id say the worst ship from T5-9 is the T6, and its really not to bad.

 

T8 and 9 get pretty strong.

Friant with AFT, BFT and demo expert can be a downright dream killer for other ships. I love it so far. It's like a tier 3 Leander without smoke but with far more useful guns firing HE.

Any ship, any Cruiser can do damage.  French Cruisers?

 

No Radar.  Not like Tier VIII+ USN, RU, RN Tech Tree Cruisers.

 

No great stealth to sneak in and do some early spotting for your team like USN can.

New Orleans for example has 9.1km concealment range with the right build, and 9km Radar range.

Chapayev has okay concealment range but very long range RU Radar.

Moskva, Dmitri Donskoi have very long range Radar.

If one has the balls, Tier VIII & X RN Cruisers can drop Smoke and adopt Radar instead, to go alongside their Hydro.  Edinburgh's concealment can be the same as its radar range.  Minotaur has longer radar range than her concealment range.  Very scary playstyle but has huge team benefits.

 

Meanwhile French Cruisers just have Engine Boost.  They're range specialists also, but most other Cruiser lines do that also.  Only US & RN Cruisers aren't ranged specialists, but IJN, RU, German Cruisers are pretty good at range also.  The torpedo loadout on French Cruisers isn't also a big deal to me, not when most of them have very light torpedo loads anyways.

 

HE spam?  IJN, RU Cruisers say, "Hi!  Been doing that already!"

 

The thing that defines this line is HE spam at range and Engine Boost.  I don't know about you, but that's kind of dull.
