Cruisers Kill those DD first - mild soapboxing

  • You need to play a total of 10 battles to post in this section.

Mornings on the NA server are interesting. Not always the best game play... seems best game play happens 9pm EST - 11pm EST, currently. But what do you see differently between mornings and evenings?

Mornings - almost every match - cruisers are out chasing battleships instead of hunting/killing destroyers. Red DDs tear up the green team and yet those cruisers are out there, pounding on those helpless battleships.

Look - play battleship to the destroyers, right? Kill the red destroyers first. Make that always your number one mission when playing a cruiser. Hunt em down and squish them like the demons they are, right? You are the best equipped ships to hunt and kill destroyers, even better than other destroyers when you have hydro and/or radar.

Alternatively, you can continue down your path of chasing and firing on those poor little battleships and lose match after match, then blame your team's destroyers/battleships/carriers for the loss. Work for you?

There's always checkers.

As a DD main I resent this; especially because it is true and will give the red team an OP advantage, that of knowing what they are doing.

Knowledge is OP; please nerf!!

I'm a CL main and I love hunting DD's and blowing them out of the water, but I do admit a crippling addiction to watching BB's burn to the waterline under my rain of HE fire.

As long as you're right behind me protecting my soft, sensitive citadel ... sure! I love DD hunting, but it makes me a very popular target for the bigger guns out there when I'm not being supported in turn.

Pure bunk!  Balderdash!

Everyone knows that when one team has 2 surviving DDs and the opposing team has zero DDs, the team without DDs always wins...

As is always the case, the casual pubbers actually needing this information are the ones not scanning the forums in the first place.

Cruisers Kill those DD first Green team, kill the red DD's first. - mild soapboxing

FTFY.

It is EVERYBODY's responsibility to shoot at DD's.

As a recent DD main. I can say, the fastest way to shut down a red victory, is for everybody to shoot at DD's and shut them down.. Even if you don't kill them outright. Make them miserable and incapable of doing what a DD does.

It's easy to say "Cruisers, sink those Destroyers!" but when you have 4-5 BBs on the red team looking for an easy kill, it's difficult for a Cruiser to get in good, effective range to kill Destroyers.

I would love nothing more than to bring my Cruiser into short range and deal with a DD, but those red BBs tend to make Cruisers do explodey things.  That is why a sane Cruiser player has to play safe.

It never ceases to amaze me when a BB is within 10km and doesn't shoot at my DD, instead shooting at the full health BB across the map.

I love it when the enemy ignores me... I have had games in Khab and Udaloi where I put out 150,000 points in unreturned damage. They had literally not touched me once.

Everybody thinks that Khab is hard to deal with. It really is not... Not if you intelligently focus it anyway.

I had another game, where I had used all three of my heals, and I was still at less than half health. I had only done 22,000 damage at that time. The reds effectively shut me down. Every time I started shooting, I had at least three people shooting me. I could not get within range of them to do anything at all.

Yeah, one of you sneaky little gomers slammed three fish in my side in my Gneisenau during a game today, taking almost all my health.  DD's are OP, must nerf immediately!  This nonsense of stealth torping is destroying the game!!!

My Mogami is trembling in port. She's rocking back and forth, crying hysterically and softly repeating: "Tirpitz ow. Tirpitz ow. Tirpitz ow."

We cruiser captains are working on it. Nothing satisfies like 7k HE salvos every 10 seconds on some poor shmuck DD.

But recent meta changes have forced us to remain close to our BB friends. I WILL chase down a DD who's actively trying to kill my escort. But hunting solo?

Tirpitz ow.

This is why Cruisers and DDs should work together to kill red DDs. Also the BBs should back both of them up. I drive a Scharnhorst a lot and love nothing more than putting some rounds into a red DD. I've killed lots of them, but I need the green DDs and Cruisers to spot them for me. I think the lack of players situational awareness is the reason there isn't any teamwork in any given scenario. Not to mention the cowboys and morons who are in it only for the kills and couldn't give 2 [edited]about teamwork.

Yes cruisers get out and kill those DDs.

The BBs will be happy to come out from behind the island and support you to the hilt..........once you've done that..........

Well agreed.  Nothing like spooling up my Atlanta in the AM to provide BB/CV AA coverage and hunt down DD's.

Good stuff......

Pfffffffft

I killed two t7 DDs tonight in a match with my Konig after baiting both in. CAs were screwing around lighting fires and acting as easy targets for enemy BBs. I made my displeasure known. Sick of DD hunting in BBs because friendly cruisers are brawling with higher tier BBs.

In a match with 3 or more DDs per side cruisers have to focus down DDs. They don't have a choice.

Watching friendly cruisers chase BBs vs DDs is like watching a dog chase cars.
