Torpedo bug or feature?

IDK if this is supposed to happen or not, but it seems like a bug to me.

 

Arming distance clearly says the torps shouldn't arm.

But the hitbox is such that the torps go through the ship and then detonate at the front, but the rear is damaged (you can see the back end go black from saturation)

 

I don't think this is the only ship to have this kind of bug, but IDK which other ones are affected.

Interesting. 

 

Whether torpedoes detonate or not should be decided upon impact with a ship's hull. This has to be a bug. I would definitely submit a report to WG.

This happened to me once when grinding my Kiev many months ago, I launched a set of torpedoes too close to the side of an enemy Fuso but was too close for them to arm and they all did nothing. However, upon launching another set of torpedoes on desperation from the aft, the torpedoes entered the ship and armed "inside" the ship when they shouldn't have any chance of doing damage as they should have bounced harmlessly not being armed yet.

 

I never gave that moment any thought and at the time imagined I had some freak lag or desync and was actually further from the Fuso than my screen showed me, but this test of yours shows the exact same scenario. It must be a bug

Depends on if WG is modeling torpedoes with contact detonators, magnetic detonators, or torpedo dependent.

AFAIK WG only does contact detonation.

AFAIK, seems to be mostly BBs that have this.

 

I tried it against a DD and all the torps didn't arm.

Some ships have torpedo belt that can take a couple or 3 hits. Think my record is 5 hits.
