How to get more camo?

Is there any way to purchase camo with credits or do they only come inside containers?

Some camo is only available either through the store or from events/missions/containers.  Usually this is camo that has special bonuses like +100% XP.  But you can buy all three standard camos (Type 1, Type 2, Type 5) directly from the "Exterior" tab on your ship under "Camouflage".

WG can give out special camos. If you're doing the Ocean Soul Marathon, you'll get a ton.

Just in case you're just starting out, I think you also need to reach Service Level ... 8 I think, before the whole event/campaign thing activates.  If you've been playing for a bit you've probably already done this but if your just starting out, you might now have.

They used to drop quite commonly in reward crates until 0.6.0 when they changed them over to only dropping type 1 and 2 (which made me have a sad).  You can still find some in Supercontainers which is nice, but hardly a reliable source for hoovering up the deliciousness of camouflages.  I got most of mine from a combination of events and Santa Crates (that promotion was awesome).  Whenever there's a new camo offered, Wargaming will usually sell them in the premium shop.  I think you can still get a hold of the Victory Salute camouflage in the online store right now.

 

My current camo collection being modeled by the ever fashionable, HMS Warspite.

In order:  Team Water -- Clash of the Elements (blue grey), La Fheile Padraig 2017 (booger green), Victory Salute (orange and black), Valentine's 2017 (red), New Year 2017 (pale blue grey), Halloween 2016 (more orange), Restless Fire (even more orange), World of Warships Anniversary (dark blue), Gamescon 2016 (grey), Ocean Soul (horizontal blue stripes), FTW (yet more orange!), American Alley-Oop (red), German Layup (blue), Russian Nothing but Net (pale blue), Type 6 (stripes), Type 5 (blotches), Type 3 New Year (candy cane), Type 3 Halloween (Guess what?  Orange).Type 2 (wavy lines), Type 1 (blotches), Type 10 - Warspite.

pretty funny how with all these containers and events people began to forget that they can buy camo with the same battle characteristics for silver. i even saw a guy who claimed camo as p2w because one can't use the free camo all the time and apparently it means they need to buy a permanent one... lol
