The intention of this thread isn't to flame btw but some concerns for Pigeon et al at wargaming:

Concerning the event Battle of Crete listed here:
https://worldofwarships.com/en/news/common/watch-me-may-may/

I'm just a little lost as to why the weekend mission gives bonuses to the USN. If you look anywhere for combatants we all know the USN wasn't present at the battle. A quick check of wiki shows this.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Crete

Why has the USN been given preference over the RN and even Italian navy for incentivisation, since the combatants were the RN, HMAS Perth, and on the axis side Italy and Germany?

I think this is either an oversight, or really inappropriate even if there are other events during the month for the RN etc.

Which Battle of Crete is this mission related to? Obviously not the 1941 conflict where the fallschirmjäger were utterly decimated? If it is the 1941 battle, why are the RN, and Italian ships not given missions since the Warspite, Fiji, Crispi etc were all present? Also what direct invovlement did the USN have at Crete - can't find anything myself.

It would be great to have an additional Battle of Crete: Warspite feature on May 19-26, considering that she was a historical participant (and the U.S. wasn't). Warspite was badly damaged off Crete on 22 May 1941 and was forced out of the Mediterranean theater to the west coast of the USA for repairs.

The only thing I can think of is because the USN has a full suite of surface ships, and the RN only has a cruiser line, plus a handful of premiums.

IJN has lots of ships.  Lets re-write history and chuck all nations in there.  No point having nations that were ACTUALLY there missing out just because there tech tree isn't complete.

Even though the RN have only a cruiser liner, they have a complete one. WG may be trying to maximize participation, but i think they should have thought up of a better event for that reason and let this event be for RN.

IMHO, Wargaming is slowly moving farther from Simulation and Reality, and more towards Arcade.

By selecting certain ships, they are changing the balance.

If you want history, we'll have to get Janes Encylopedia to develop a PvE where we can re-enact.

This thought process is where all your trouble begins.  The only way they try to imitate reality is in the look of the ships.  When you bother to consider that the way the ships are constructed to behave you will understand it's all based on game play.

When you realize the difference in nationality is to present different play styles and has nothing to do with the actual ships performance, you will start ignoring nationality when choosing your ship.  "Paper ships" wont mean anything to you.  Your game play will take on better enjoyment.

Schnoze your post has nothing to do with my original post. The thread is about why the wrong combatants are listed for the mission.

Achilles, my response wasn't directed at you, It was at IdleGroot, whom I quoted.

Quotes are used to indicate what a poster is responding to so as to keep their message in context.  Many posters will also do as I did and abbreviate the quote for greater indication of what their comment is related to.  At other times part of the quote will be bolded, font size changed, or font color changed.
