Now I will point out, I've been a Marine Engineer for 30 years, and stuff like that happens all the time. The guys with the slide rulers and computers don't always see the "Big Picture"

:great: :D - I like to pretend I'm at the AA guns when they're rotating and firing, get all 'role play' n stuff . . .

maybe this is why my WTR in the Bertin is like 600 :(

And I'm thinking of the Star Wars movie - Return of the Jedi...

"INCREASE FORWARD FIREPOWER !!!!!"

Yup...   That's good enough.

With that extra four knots of speed,  the gun will be a blur, and you'll be able to see right through it... :sceptic:

Not the first time someone's noticed that ridiculous AA gun mount obscuring the bridge.

Even better they exclude the AA tub from the paint job.

Apparently the guys in the docks were too focused on geting home so that they could eat some cheese

-Non Jacques! I put ze wine cooler there!

-But-

-Non! Ze wine cooler stays! We must move ze mount!

-We will put it somewhere else then, but where...

-On top of ze turret, of course!

-But-

-Non! No buts! On the turret it goes!

That's the armored bridge.... this is the navigational bridge.

But wasn't the ship steered from the armored bridge during combat? That means they couldn't see during the most most critical time it was needed.

No wonder they had to retreat most of the time. "Jacques! I can not see a thing! We obviously can't fight! Retreat!"

....the requirement to withdraw was simply built into the engineering - lol!

In peacetime, the Bofors is removed, and the tub becomes a pool filled with frolicking nude French underwear models.

Makes sense now, doesn't it? :D

Yes, but orders to steer were given from above. Some Royal Navy ships didn't even have windows in their armored bridges.

^^ this is true. Check out the naval legends video for the Diamantina. The helmsman steering the ship could not see where the ship was going.
