If you happen to be moving forward, you can hit yourself with plunging fire. Don't ask how I found this, I was really bored. EDIT: OK, so I tried it with all sorts of ships in training room. It seems to now happen when you are at close proximity (like below 1 km) to an enemy ship and locked on to him and firing without scoping. EDIT: I think it's safe to assume that dispersion is a function of horizontal distance traveled rather than total distance. Hmm, I'll try this in training room, maybe it still works. I do recall sometimes my turrets fire directly up when I flick the camera, and recently too. You're able to apparently break the games coding that sets limits on the elevation values... WG should definitely be taking a look at this. On a side note: plunging fire finally working as intended! I know Udaloi at one point could torpedo herself. You had to use the wing-mounted launchers and have speed flag and engine boost running while torpedoing as forward as possible, turning into the torpedoes.
