0.6.4 Replay Control Bugs

The Free Camera (CTRL SHIFT BACKSPACE) bug that's been around since 0.6.3 is still alive and well.

ISSUE:  Free-Floating camera (enabled by CTRL + SHIFT + BACKSPACE) no longer functions in Replay System.

HOW TO REPLICATE:  Load a replay.  When the battle commences, enable free camera (LMB / CTRL + LMB).  Then click CTRL + SHIFT + BACKSPACE to enable Free-Floating camera.

EXPECTED RESULT:  Pressing the three buttons should enable the free-floating camera (operable with arrow keys, NUMPAD keys) within the replay system, allowing the player to change the perspective of the battle and observe it from different angles.

While you're at it, toss in about every aspect of a reasonably decent video play back system... a simple graphic overlay of the transport controls would be nice.

I never knew how to free the camera during replay, but there's another bug I'm dealing with.  Before, I could zoom in all the way on my ship, and hold down the right mouse button to free the camera, so I could get an eye level shot at maximum zoom in.  Now as it is, I can't get all the ship into frame without having the camera point at the ship at a complete 90 degree angle, or having the camera look down on the ship.  It's ruining my screenshots for my uploaded replays.

Camera Example before problem:

But replay mode doesn't let me do this anymore.  When I zoom in, the camera attaches itself to the gun turrets, or worse, on the torpedo tubes when selected, so I can't get any close in shots of my ships anymore during replay.

Camera is stuck on torpedo tubes, holding RMB does nothing:

I've also encountered yet ANOTHER camera bug, in that if I click the "start battle" button during the opening replay screen, the Ctrl + G function that removes the UI no longer works, and I have to reload the replay.

I tried to replicate this and I am not having an issue. Though in general, the replay system is just plain fickle and I highly suspect this is still accurate. I have experienced issues with the ESC key popping the window up infinitely.

Never experienced this myself but thank you for highlighting it to the community. :honoring:

How about the no to no UI bug?  There are times when CTRL+G works, within a Replay, then there are other times when CTRL+G just laughs.  I haven't figured out what combination of keys I need to press to make CTRL+G work all the time, like the CTRL+LMB to enable the free-cam key set.  Caps Lock?  Num Lock?  Both?  None?  One before the other???  I <3 Putin?  :red_button:

I was under the impression that any independent camera control was broken by 0.6.4.

I've had them work ONCE (and only ONCE!) in a Replay and I couldn't tell you for the life of me how I managed to do it.  However, in a regular match, you can detach the camera from your ship every time (and toggle it back) with CTRL + SHIFT + BACKSPACE.  So it's not completely broken, just broken in replays.

Thanks for the heads up! Ill take a look into this and try to replicate and update the devs with the info.

Have you or anyone else had the "death camera" lock up on them? That is, the camera post death, where you are able to hover over the battlefield and observe/fly around the map. It will just lock up randomly, only way to fix it is by observing another shipmate and then going back to free-cam.

SOLVED:  CTRL+G, for me, has to be activated before the battle starts, as in, before 00 is reached on the countdown.  Then, once the game has started, I can CTRL+LMB, then, (right side) CTRL + SHIFT + BACKSPACE to unlock the camera and have fun with potential cinematics!

interesting, ive been having a bug with my replay system going back to 0.6.3 where I am required to actually log into the game as if I was online; and then I would not be able to use any controls whatsoever. It happening ever sinceI uploaded a replay to the WoT website.

So I just learned how to enable replays, and the few times that I tried to view them I've had this happen as well. Except after been frozen for more than 15 seconds the entire game client usually just crashes.

Also, I'm not sure what exactly what went wrong, but I don't think this is right.

SOLUTION?.....  I was trying to get a birds eye view on a replay for a video and had this same "unable to release free cam" issue during replay looking at the threads I got it to work twice to get the footage I wanted my solution:  IT ONLY WORKED BEFORE THE COUNTDOWN HIT 0,  so when starting a replay hit "start battle" ASAP and work the standar controls to release the free cam as fast as you can,  after several minutes of frustration anguish anger and near keyboard throwing.... that's how i got it to work for me.
