Geez, can't believe we don't have a french area yet. Well this is for all who love this gem. I like it so much I bought premium camo. The French line has really fit me. This is another keeper.

Yeah I am surprised how much I like these ships.  I'm only at T7 right now, but other than the poor rudder shift stock, they're a lot better than most of the reviews I saw led me to believe.

I skipped out of gali in like 5 games. It has played the weakest out of any tier 6 cruiser for me, and this is being said even though my first round was a 100k kraken.

La Gal is a decent ship, but I'm much more impressed with Emile Bertin, the tier V.

La Gal almost made me stop going up the French cruiser line (Finally past it and thankfully the Algerie is a nice little ship)

I free XP like 80% of all french ship. The T4 have big guns but i can't even properly hit a ship, the T5 is meh and the T6 is probably the weakest T6 cruiser right now. I unlocked the Algerie and i can say without doubt she is the first good ship of this line. Really good fire starter with good HE damage and range. She can handle pretty well every ship as long as you stay at long range.

I actually like this cruiser pretty much too,

 

I charge mine into a enemy fubuki, Cleve & Duca, dodges the simoustanly launch torps from the buki and Duca as I charge forward detects the buki hiding in smoke and pepper her to death with HE. Dodges the 2nd set of torpedoes from the Duca that followed my torp launch at the Cleveland so I returned 2 torps back at the Duca and finished the italian with shells through the stern before realigning my attention Cleveland who has taken hits from my torps, the ensuring knife fight I had the upper hand until I beached myself in which the cleve's turrets caught up to me and finished me off before the low health CL died to my teammates.

They should call the La Gal the La Garbage, because that is exactly what it is pure garbage, along with the rest of the french cruisers to this point. I am hoping for something better at T7.

You get 203 mm guns at t7.

Yes I got it last night... soo much better... even with the 152mm on the Cleveland, I don't remember the shells shattering near as much as the La Gag...

Been trying hard to make La Gal work, but I have come to the conclusion that it is just junk.  Hoping the tier 7 is better, because if not I'm just going to bail on this line unless it gets improved.  Nothing I have tried has resulted in success.

actually, I am liking this ship much better than Emile B.     It plays similar to IJN  CA but with smaller gun/lower tier.       so far so good in my grind.   it is bit more fragile than cleveland, but better guns.

French T6 has 9 rifles total (Cleve has 12). So with 10 second reload per turret, across 3 turrets, that's one turret every 3.3 seconds, for 0.9 rounds per second.

 

Cleve's shell rate is 66% better. Once set up in turret phasing fire, you can follow target like an Atlanta.

 

I also think great AA offsets two torps per side. Just don't nerf it now....!

lot flatter arc though with higher fire chance.   IJN CAs also have lower ROF, but they hit hard and have good fire.  it does have good turret speed compared to IJN but bit more fragile.    It is very usable CL at t6.   it has been a while since I've had cleveland though,  i remember it as very forgiving cruiser.   after getting used to higher tier CAs,    I dont' mind fragile ships.

It's been ok, but it's a step down from the Emile in most regards, despite jumping up a tier.  Gaining an upgrade slot and a small reload boost, while losing a torpedo on each side and ship speed, is a poor trade-off to begin seeing tier 8s.  It's an "ok" ship IMO.

She needs more speed - too freaking slow. Makes no sense why you lose total speed when you gain speed boost over EB. Overall though. She is capable. Decent enough range to play at her tier with pretty accurate guns. Torp arcs are awesome. Good armor against equal tiered cruisers Easy enough to play through the ship. T7 seems to be where the line starts to become competitive for sure.

At T6, you  have to be careful about the fight, while with the Cleveland, you are in the fight.

3 battles in, and I have yet to get a win in the La Gal.  My opinion is the T6 is crap compared to the E-B t5. Thinking about free XP-ing past this one .  it has no defense.

Try 40 battles in it......a UN restricted operation if there ever was one.

I only had one win in the first 8 battles, and that was enough for me to set this one aside for a bit.  I'm starting to feel like there is something wrong with the French shells, but don't have any stats to back it up.  Just feels like the HE shatters a LOT doing no damage and the penetration values on the AP are on the low side once the target is out past about 8km.  I know game mechanics say otherwise, but I also feel like French cruisers catch on fire a lot more often than other nations.
