After I fire my torpedoes how do I disengage torps and get back to artillery?

Press your 1 or 2 key. That'll swap back to guns in most cases.

and double tapping 1 or 2 will automatically start reloading the other ammo type.

Pressing 2 ONCE when HE is loaded will reload AP for the remainder of your shooting until you press 3 or double tap 1, OR tap 1 once, and it will load HE, and so on...

Cruisers only.  Driving the Phoenix is supposed to be like playing a DD.  Another steep learning curve.  So far, I am more successful as a torp target than killing others.

do not play that ship like a DD (it is not really like a DD, except for maybe the few Russians that have a bad turn radius, lol)....play it like a cruiser that has decent torpedoes, and hopefully the enemy will forget you have then until it is too late to turn around when you get them coming around an island...

it is a good cruiser.... not a good DD...

Thanks everyone for all the help.  I got my first 3 torp hit last night for 27,300 in damage to the enemy.  It was more fun being the sinker than the sinkee.  lol
